Guys, the narrative is sinking in the national conscience. Everywhere I go, being debated on boards is whether the AAC is a power conference, or power 6. I've visited a lot of boards. Of course the G4ers naturally shoot it down, but it's still debated everywhere. No other G4 conference gets debated about in that way. Aresco has done a great job of hammering this home. The more and more it's talked about, the more and more the narrative gets driven home. Now we need a big year in football to finish the job.

Let me know when our conference makes $15 million a year per team and has an auto bid to an NY6 bowl. Otherwise all i hear is "blah blah P6 blah blah".

Just out of curiosity, and the draft isn't for another week, I'll bite. Which boards? Are they national boards, P5 boards, or AAC/G5 boards?

Agree. You have to make your own narrative.

That's a great question. I've never seen "P6" on the big 10 board I frequently visit for mostly college wrestling, but also football. I don't hear about P6 on a NC school ACC boards. On here, CSN I've seen P6 mocked by CUSA fans.
I wish theres wasn't a P5, G5, P6 etc. there's 10 FBS football conferences, let's leave it at that...ok ESPN?

Agreed, but I still think that the general population doesn't really know our conference. They think Navy is still independent, that ECU and Houston are still in C-USA, that Cincy plays basketball in the Big East...

That's what you want to believe...but then there is reality.

P6
SEC
B1G
B12
Pac
ACC
AAC
+ND

G4
CUSA
Sunbelt
MWC
MAC
+ other independent

The team revenues, attendance, etc all support this divide.

We have somewhat separated from G4 but are not part of P6. Next step is TV, If we only jump 1 or 2 mil per year per school We are not remotely close to P6. If we can add $4mil or more per school, There is no doubt we are not G5, but we still have a ways to go. but should be in conversation.

RE: American Pow6r
Aren't Bowl game opponents up to the Bowl Committees? No matter what we are paid, the committees don't have to recognize a P6. I guess we could get a NY8 'guarantee' if that comes to fruition. The only benefit I see from more money is more money, period. Of course that helps. The only path to semi-parity I see is the breakup of the BigXII and them absorbing some of us or us absorbing all of the left overs and becoming P5th.

Been away for a while and can't tell how much of this thread is snark. Forgive me if I've taken the bait. The P5 category/label stems from contract bowls and autonomy politics...similar to the old BCS/non-BCS structure. Perception, however, can be media driven. In years past, the MWC was portrayed as an equal to or better than the conference deemed the "Big Least" (even though the BE performed better than other BCS conferences). Similarly, the AAC has been mentioned as a tweener and P5 1/2 by some media outlets. However, P6 status is more than just perception or stickers on a helmet. On the field performance solidifies tweener status...P6, not so much.

Some snark, some I suspect really believe there's a P6. Some are trying to promote the conference for a better media deal in 2020, which I respect. I use the past as an example though. That's why I'm not excited. The MWC between 2004 and 2010 wasn't just better than the Big Least some years. There were years when it was better than the ACC and the PAC.....They got little traction for the BCS, until they got so good they couldn't be ignored. The second they did look like they were going to the BCS? Raided. There will be a P4 before there is a P6. Mike Aresco does make a P5 salary though.
