yeah that's a good point as well.

you know, once they get their football team sorted out...
Not sure WSU ever decided to field a football team, did they? I know they were researching it, but never heard if they plan to move ahead,or shelve the idea. Maybe a Shocker fan can chime in?
They did, indeed, seem to be looking at whether starting a football team would be a necessary step to escaping the MVC ...
... but since lack of an FBS football team did not prevent them from escaping the MVC to the AAC ... why exactly would they want to do that now?
The president absolutely wants football. He hasn't been shy about that. But he has also said it's not just his decision and if it's done it'll be done right. He's also said from early on that the conference affiliation will be settled before any football decision is made.
The president doesn't see football as only a way to get out of the MVC. It was one reason we were looking into it, but it wasn't the only reason. He's working hard to grow the campus and enrollment and sees football as something that would give all of that a boost. It's believe that it would help with recruiting and retaining students. He also believe it would help with recruitment in OK and TX. He's also trying to create a better student experience.
Basically, even with a move to the AAC, Bardo is going to do all he can to bring football back. That doesn't guarantee it'll happen, but it is his goal.
Do you really think he can get enough donors to support the cost of offering fb, though? I know PJB wants it, but the prominent donors have all been eerily silent on the issue.

Y'all have some deep-pocket supporters who could make this happen if they want to. But as ShockerDR pointed out, those donors seem to be doing other things. And make no mistake: to do this the right way will be hugely expensive. And (now) there's no conference-affiliation argument to be made in favor of doing it.

I've heard most of the startup costs have already been pledged. So if that's true, then we already have the support. And an official announcement of football would only encourage more support
