That's a good point. I didn't think of that. I'm not trashing anyone. I do feel bad for Penny though.

Anyone who doesn't want penny coaching their kids is not being smart. That guy knows fundamentals and footwork to be successful more than anyone.

All that said, i'm not surprised. It seems we had to make daddy happy twice to get his two sons, so i expected something to happen before the other two play here. It could be we have to make daddy happy two more times or maybe daddy just wants to be happy somewhere else.

Makes no difference to me what happens. I'm not the biggest fan of this entire lawson arrangement anyways. I like the kids, i'm just not a fan of how dad does his business.

You mean by using whatever leverage he has to make a fractional amount of money compared to the amount the multi-billion dollar ruse called college basketball will make off his progeny?

Two wrongs = right?

I'm not going to defend the ncaa on this one though. They are as corrupt as they can be.

Fair enough. Although I did lend some initial credence to development - less so to academics or recruiting. I also talked to someone last night.

Keelon?

STFU

awww

Don't get so worked up, dude. No it wasn't Keelon or family. Just a couple guys. Heck, your name even came up. Maybe wrong. That's why I said "probably".

Whatever the reason, it's a private matter until someone in the family says otherwise. I'm not big on conspiracy theories with this, but what the hell do I know. I know Keelon a little and he's a good guy. He can send his kids wherever he wants and can afford. If he's still on staff here, then my opinion is that they'll be here. Otherwise it's a crap shoot. Regardless, it's the family's business and should be viewed as such.

RE: Chandler/Johnathan - BOH!!!!
Looks like, once again, daddy (guardians, mommy, etc) blaming everything and everybody but their own kids and lack of courage. KJ and Dedric aren't superstars. Not their fault or the family's fault, its everyone else's fault, right? If, but, blah, blah, blah. Or maybe, if they had spent a little more time practicing and a little less time just being taller than everyone else...

If you are good enough for the NBA, you're good enough for the NBA. Fancy gyms and fancy outfits at fake high schools don't make you a better basketball player. In fact, that can harm as much as help. Talent, strength, size, speed, brains, hard work and determination might make you great. Not somebody else.

Austin, Adonis, Joe, Darius, Sean, etc, etc, etc, the NBA doesn't care about anything but what you can do for them on the court, and that is up to the player, period.

Whether you go to SuperStar Basketball Inc Psuedo-Academy or Humboldt High, the NBA doesn't give a rat's a$$. And you can learn all the nuances and gain all the skills of the game on a concrete court with a rim with no net. Block out, consistency and form, free throws, hustle, etc.

Did Steph Curry or Scotty Pippin or Cam Payne or Earl Barron go to IMG and Duke? Mark Gasol went to Lausanne.

I have seen IMG facilities and seen the schedule their athletes keep...Those kids at IMG probably spend more time working on their craft than college players.

Cmt, you make some good points above. I didn't, however, see Keelon making any excuses for his boys. Maybe I missed that. Seriously, maybe I did. I'm not sure how they "lack courage" either. I certainly disagree with your assessment that Dedric isn't a superstar. He surely is a superstar. His statistics point to that, without question. I don't know if that translates to the next level but here, the guy is a big time superstar.
I completely agree with your other points.

Seems like you are condemning the Lawson family based on speculation from other anonymous internet posters who have no more insight into what is going on than you do regarding what the reasons for the move might be. That seems a bit unfair to me. Only one person in this thread has talked to someone who would actually know and he aint talking other than to shoot down some of the speculation from others.

Not everything has to be an indictment on Tubby, Penny, Keelon or anybody else.
