Is it possible that DJ Jeffries could be coming to east since he's switching from team Thad to team Penny? Maybe dad doesn't want Jeffries to out shine his kids??

That was my initial thought.

I'm sure some in the public will buy the line that it's best for the kids for recruiting, development, education, some such. And the development could be true. At the same time, there is something that triggered that - and the timing seems odd.

This is a question - not speculation - but could this be tied to the fact that East is going to be completely optional in the near future? All current classes of kids will be cycled out as they graduate, but incoming students will be coming in as optional only. This starts with the incoming 9th grade class in the fall. It will eventually be a feeder school from STEAM Academy.

This program has been just fine for many years before we had a Lawson involved, no way I would let him hold this school hostage. KJ isn't really worth worrying about imo and the other two are three and 5 years away.

With that roster, seems like there'd be enough attention to go around. Maybe not.

If you look at this from a pure basketball standpoint, it is smart. When you have that much potential, you want to accelerate development and make the player NBA ready as soon as possible.

I've seen Chandler play the last 2 summers. Against kids his age, he was really good because he stood out physically. Against older kids that were his size, he looked very average. He needs to be challenged.

In my mind, they either want to come here or they don't. I don't see that the high school impacts that. If they want to be Tigers, and the can get better before they get here, then I'm all for it.

Mama Lawson has said all along that just because their father works for the University of Memphis doesn't mean that Chandler would be 100% coming here too.
