Without this business model is there honestly any way on earth Rutgers would be in the big10?

Does it matter at this point?

If the big 12 isn't getting a network then what difference does it make what market they choose? The last time they added teams they added TCU to basically replace A&M and they took what they felt was the best football team out of Louisville and WVU. The top 3 amongst most credible people being BYU, Cincy, and Houston seems to be more about the best football properties over markets. The dog and pony show has everyone guessing but I wouldn't be shocked that at the end of the day 2 out of that top 3 are chosen. The over reaching thinking they had clemson or FSU is what lead them in this predicament in the first place. While I think all 3 schools are solid you can tell they don't truly want to add any of them. This whole situation is forced and the big 12 is basically sitting their ass out at this point. Dysfunctional is putting it nicely..

No it doesn't and I get why people question why....but its petty as hell. However it has no bearing whatsoever now and never will. Which is why I laugh when fans try to talk about Wake, BC, and Vandy being "lucky" as if they should apologize for being in the position they are in. It is what it is. Every school in the g5 "wishes" they were just as lucky. I tip my cap to Rutgers being at the right place and the right time. Rutgers doesn't have to apologize to anybody for being in the B1G!

Actually no one knows what the fox and the big12 are up to. I'm just guessing like everyone else. I don't believe that the big12 is confused at all, I think they along with fox are working out something huge and when all the contracts are the sports world will be talking

No said Rutgers should apologize for anything. I simply stated the business model that gave them their opportunity, simply as that. I think that same model could or may be in play in this situation. The big12 desperately want a network and fox desperately wants into east and southeastern markets. I just saying that when 2 motivated entities needs come into play anything is possible.

I think the Big 12 network idea is dead. I don't think that is currently on the table anymore. This is why I said I don't believe markets are the defacto game changer for them as it was for the BIG and SEC at the time because they were realistically launching networks. So yes your are absolutely correct in that Rutgers got in based off that criteria. As far as I know the big 12 will not be seeking its own network but just trying to capitalize off this current deal leaching off new teams and making them take a cut.

Just like to add that all 3 of those are more qualified for P5 inclusion than Iowa State.

Carry on...

Maybe in football, but Iowa State is held in higher regard as a university than all three.

And ISU does well in basketball and has attendance in the middle of the pack for the P5 (55k range). They have a loyal fan base. Also are a national power in wrestling.
