RE: Atlantic Coast Conference ACC wants either Cincinnati or Memphis
And as for Notre Dame the reason they haven't won any big bowls is their admissions process. They can't get the thugs and rapists in like Bammer, Ole Miss, Baylor and Free Shoes U.

Mmmm. You should look at team rankings. In the past 4 or 5 years they have been in the top 15 every year, and had the #3 class in 2013...

They have plenty of "thugs and rapists". Their "thugs and rapists" have high test scores.

This is the best of the points you made. I envision all of the Power conference getting to 16 teams eventually, but I think 18 teams would be difficult to manage.
Bowlsby has said that in 2025 there maybe as many as 80 to 100 in the p5. While I see 72 in four leagues as better option, 100 is far too many.
Not long after I moved to Tx., I was listening to a local sports guy;Randy Galloway, interview Darrel Royal(rip).
Royal said at the time the plan was to go to 5 conf. of 20 schools.
This was 8 or 9 years ago. Maybe 9 1/2.
Now, admittedly, his was from a Big 12 perspective.
Of course plans change-but, that was the plan.
So, I would imagine that is still a scenario being considered by some.
That's also why you've had schools in Texas step up their sports investments.
I personally believe they need at least 100 schools to keep the nation's interest.
No one cares if Northwestern upsets Cal.
EVERYONE cares when Appy State beats Michigan.
They MUST continue to include that element, or IMO, college sports will one day stagnate if left to just the fans of the larger P5 schools.
Whose plan was this exactly? A plan is different than a forecast or personal opinion, so you're claiming that Royal claimed there was a commitment of some sort by unspecified individuals/groups toward 20 school conferences.

A non-existent plan.
Royal would have been around 80 years old a decade ago - he was 88 when he died. His last year as Texas AD was 1980.
Anybody who thinks Royal had inside scoop when he hadn't been an AD for a quarter-century is dreaming.

The reason for the potential move to three divisions would be a very simple one: to better position itself for the College Football Playoff. Theoretically, three divisions would allow the ACC to create a stronger conference championship game, which would then strengthen its case for a spot in the four-team playoff.
The problem, of course, would be that the ACC currently consists of 14 members, and would likely need to add a 15th school — three divisions of five teams each — to make that setup work. Notre Dame is already a scheduling partner with the ACC, although it seems unlikely that the conference would be able to convince the school to shed its football independence and become a full-time member of the league. Other potential additions — again, if they go the three-division route — could include Cincinnati, Memphis, UCF and UConn.
15 months ago the ACC didn't have a restrictive GOR package did they?
Things change...plans change.
Not saying you didn't hear anything...just saying they might not follow thru with it.
What does the GOR have to do with increasing the odds to the CFP by going 3 divisions? The GOR will stop schools from leaving - theoretically, although I'm still pessimistic. But that's not what the 15-team, 3-divisional playoff scenario is about.

The ACC isn't losing any schools in the next twenty years.
The biggest point of contention - the lack of an ACC network, a major source of revenue and exposure - is now over. It's in place and will make them money and get them viewers.
That, and the GOR has been extended until 2035-2036. Leaving means that the school forfeits tens of millions of dollars in media rights each year - it would be committing suicide financially.
The ACC is set for twenty years, Notre Dame included.
