We heard a lot of opining about how roughly a 3rd of the GOP party members will opt out of the election if Trump is the nominee. So the wisdom would state that blocking Trump from becoming the nominee is the right play by the leadership. Not so fast...
Quote:A third of Republican voters who support Donald Trump could turn their backs on their party in November's presidential election if he is denied the nomination in a contested convention, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.
The results are bad news for Trump's rivals as well as party elites opposed to the real estate billionaire, suggesting that an alternative Republican nominee for the Nov. 8 presidential race would have a tougher road against the Democrats.
"If it’s a close election, this is devastating news" for the Republicans, said Donald Green, an expert on election turnout at Columbia University.
I know that if the GOP leadership ignores the votes in the primaries, then I will NOT vote for any GOP nominee at all. I'll vote Libertarian.
A lot of drama over nothing. Unless Trump reaches 1237, nothing is being "stolen" from him, because he hasn't won anything to "steal". He and his supporters are just getting desperate, because they see the writing on the wall that he isn't going to reach 1237. Trump will soon go full on kamikaze (proving all his skeptics right), but all he will really do is flame out, and the GOP will coalesce behind Cruz/Kasich.

Trump has been given everything his entire life, so you will soon see what happens when a spoiled brat doesn't get their way. I hope you've got your popcorn ready.

Because Cruz has gone full blown "establishment" and believes he can fly, his running mate will be Rufio......oooops, Rubio.

False analogy. If he goes into the convention with the most delegates based on the primary voting results, then him not getting the nomination in the end is sticking it in the eye of the majority. Right now, no one appears to be going into the convention with the magic number. Therefore, the same candidates who are not named Trump failed to get the number also. No matter how you spin this, the process will be tainted if the one going into the convention does not get the nomination - unless the leader in delegates chooses to apply them to an alternative candidate. Same if Cruz eclipses Trump going into the convention. Then Cruz deserves the mantle.
You guys don't get it. The margin for error is not there anymore. If the people feel like they were shut out in the end, then it's game over. The voters no longer subscribe to the "lesser of two evils" theory of voting. I think most of us now see that the D's and R's have little difference to them in practice. Therefore, both parties are evil in the end.

I don't think you know what majority means.
If no one gets 1237 (a majority), it isn't just given to Trump. It goes to an open convention, which is where Cruz's superior ground game (vs. Trump's non-existent one) shines. Cruz has put in the work, Trump just wants it to be handed to him. At that point, Trump has no one to blame but himself.

You're just noticing this??
No, I've been witnessing it for awhile. But a lot of people are also low info voters who I believe are waking up to this realization.

The thing is, the Trumpeters aren't typical GOP voters anyway. I bet half of them usually don't even vote. Out of the others, there are just as many democrats as republicans. Losing his 30% that won't vote down ticket is more tolerable than losing Cruz voters or establishment that vote every election, including midterms, state, local and down balllot.

Exactly, though I much prefer Walker to Kasich. Nothing happens without a majority and I don't think Trump has gotten a majority in a single state, though that should change in New York.

The part of Wendy will be played by Megyn Kelly.
Full blown establishment? How so? Because he gave a Bush a job?
