If the rest of the conference stays together after KU, OU & UT leave; they not only collect exit fees, they also keep all of the Men's Hoops credits that the departing institutions earned which is OU & KU's case is 04-jawdrop

ACC does not want WVU, the 12 PAC will not take Texas schools w/o UT or OK schools w/o OU. Nobody would want ISU or KSU.

The conference should stay together and add

1) BYU football only. Largest private U to play FBS football and one of the 5 largest in the Western US
2) SDST football only. By far the largest university in the MWC and the best overall athletic program. Won the MWC football championship this past year and with the Chargers leaving for LA, their attendance will increase and even more if they join a P5 conference. SDST is the 3rd largest FBS university in California only a few hundred behind Berkeley.

3) Either UCF or USF, gets the B12 into the FLA recruiting market. UCF has the largest undergrad enrollment in the entire Southeastern US. USF is the 4th largest in the AMerican but only 100 behind Houston and 1K behind Temple.

Could add Wichita State for hoops to have an even number of basketball programs.

Adding these 3 would mean the new Big 12 the only P5 conference with programs in Florida, Texas & California (football only); including the largest SoBapCon FBS university, the largest Private FBS U in the nation, the largest Disciples of Christ FBS U, the largest FBS U in the Southeastern US and the #6 & #7 largest FBS universities in the Western US. Not a bad place to be.

There is no way that the big 12 will stretch from California to Florida and West Virginia. Even if it is football only.

First of all, it's football only
Secondly and not saying this to be nasty but the Cyclones will never be able to compete with the Hawkeyes or Gophers or Cornhuskers or tigers or Badgers for instate or midwest talent; those programs have been more successful than ISU
Thirdly, if you want ISU to be able to compete with the programs I have mentioned, ISU will have to get better talent from other parts of the country and that talent is easier to recruit if that talent can see your program play. Much of that better talent is in Florida and California. ISU, KSU, OSU & WVA should be pushing like heck to get the programs I have mentioned added to tbe Big 12 if OU, UT & KU leave. You will still have 3 programs in Texas to hold that area down plus you pick up footholds in Florida (which WVA loves to recruit) and California.

When you do get better talent frmo out of state, when you do recruit a local talent vs the Hawkeyes your recruiter can say that your October/November games are in Texas, FLorida and California instead of Minnesota, Wisconsin & Michigan. Sounds like a winner to me!

1. Iowa state has shifted its focus on recruiting the Midwest and actually has succeeded in it. We got a two good recruits this year out of Cincy. We recruited michigian well too. So us being in a more regional conference would help. We shifted away from recruiting Texas because it hard to recruit against Baylor, Texas, and etc. we recruit Florida fine with WVU so adding Florida schools would hurt us because we recruit against schools like UCF and USF already, we don't want to give recruits to stay home more reason to.

2. I'm not saying we are going to get into the big ten but think about this. Iowa state fans would rather play someone like Illinois instead of SDST. Just like how UH wants to be in the big 12 to play against schools like TCU and Texas, Iowa state wants to play against schools by us. It's fun bugging your co workers and friends that went to the other school and making office bets on the game. Iowa state has a ton of Illinois kids, I bet they would love to play the Illini. You have to think about match ups that excite the fan base. Regional match ups get more fans and I think are more fun. I've never met a SDST fan in Iowa.

3. Traveling for fans would be hard. Think about Iowa state fans going to the SDST football game in San Diego. We travel well but I still don't think too many fans could make that trip. I don't know how many alumni live in California. Imagine WVU having to travel to San Diego too or even Baylor? Same with Iowa State. How many fans from SDST will travel to Ames? Probably not a lot.

I just want schools closer to our footprint in the big 12. I want Cincy, Memphis, Colorado state, and maybe even temple.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but you're already competing with us in recruiting FL. If anything it'd help your recruiting because you'd be able to visit the state once a year.
