Been reading the site entries for a while and follow the Huskies pretty closely, but this is my first post.
I was very discouraged about something in the report. With the quotation marks around the word "major" in six major events it was reported that these events brought in 18,565 people to the convo center. 18,565!!!!! That's about 3,000 per event and about half of what a DeKalb/Sycamore high school basketball game brings in. I sincerely hope that there isn't a sole involved that considers that a success. Any gross of $485K? What was the net? I didn't read into the detailed figures, but, please----we really need to advertise and grow that venture.
Will continue doing my fly bys and hope to be an active player come football season.
It's been a bigger money pit...it's just less of one now with Frazier running it instead of EW's people.

Looks like Missouri is visiting this year, that should be easy to sell. I think once this NIU future schedule gets closer and closer, season tickets will go like hot cakes.

Also they only have 1 weeknight home game which is on Oct 20th rather than mid November and yes it's on ESPN2 for the exposure.

That is the thing which I think needs to be considered with the weeknight games, how many people that turns off to season tickets, it probably makes those Saturday afternoons when you are a 50/50 on the fence of going and the fact you don't have a season ticket tips the scales. I really believe this year we are just seeing the very onset of the increased season ticket sales with the foreseeable better non-conf schedule. I expect the following 2 season to really pick up in that regard once more and more get wind of the teams coming to DeKalb.
lol so in the first breath you say the Kansas game had low attendance because of bad season tickets due to playing weeknight games, but in the second breath you say season tickets will now go up due to better OOC games...........while stay playing weeknight games.
Never change, MD. Never change.
There's nothing illogical about that. Kansas wasn't that much of a draw. But overall a better OOC schedule will help with season tickets, and that will help a little even on the weeknight games.
No, the Kansas Charlie Weiss circus was a big draw. Attendance was very disappointing...from a FL resident who is very little help in this area.
How is Charlie Weiss a big draw? Nobody that's a Notre Dame fan would go to an NIU game to see him. There are few if any Patriots fans around here. I don't see how anybody would care, or for some, even know who Kansas' coach is. Still disappointing turnout for a nice day but I agree with MD that a decade full of crap schedules doesn't help.
Gravity?
*I didn't read the whole thread before making this fat joke, sorry it's the second fat joke.*

Minnesota's Athletic Director resigned today. How many times do you think Frazier's phone has had a St Paul area code giving him a call so far today?
