According to guru Steele..UCF, Cincy, ECU are all light on Def returning starters and Memphis has only 3.

what they did not mention however, is that Memphis had a LOT of defensive injuries last season..and that 2nd team players got a lot of snaps at almost every defensive position.
It won't be a total shock for some of those guys to play more snaps.

^ lol, looks legit to me...gotta love these crazy CUSA fans.

And how many AAC teams beat C-USA teams last year?

MTSU lost badly to Memphis last season...as I suspect a lot of CUSA teams would have.

Not mine! 05-stirthepot

I'm not trying be full of myself or my team or anything. So if I came off like that...sorry.
Just 3 short years ago..we were a laughingstock.
Our current coach took over a team with a little more than 50 scholarship players.
Just a BIT better of a position than UAB currently finds itself in player wise.
I still pull for my old UAB and USM brethren.

Don't understand why people in this thread are promoting Marshall as the front runner for anything this season. They aren't even the preseason favorite in their own division.

WKU is set up the best for the G5 slot. Winnable respectful OOC games against IU/Vandy. LSU an obvious loss, but if we play them close and go undefeated in conference, we will be set up great for the G5 slot. Marshall could go undefeated and not make the access bowl.

Orange: Marshall (13-0, #1 Playoff Seed)
Sugar: WKU (11-1 with win at LSU and only loss to undefeated Marshall gets them an at-large NY6 bid)
Fiesta: UTEP (12-1 with wins at Arkansas and Texas Tech and only loss to undefeated Marshall also gets them at-large NY6 bid)

All 10 other teams find a way to go 5-7.

Most likely because we have won the division 2 years in a row.

Games are played on the field. Until someone else wins the division, it comes through Huntington, WV.

Love this scenario! Would love to see another year where the G5 crash the party in a big way and - why not 3 C-USA teams in the party!?

Also this is about the only way Marshall can get to the playoff - they'll need a couple opponents on the schedule to be stronger than expected. Like NYD6 strong.

I will just say that UTEP, WKY, LaTech,Rice all have "clearer" paths to the playoff than Marshall. But Marshall was access-bowl caliber last year and has plenty of potential to be there, or better, this year.

Excuse Me, but this year for The Thundering Herd the division goes thru Murfreesboro. You boys are at our place and we know what happens to Marshall when you enter Johnny "Red" Floyd Stadium!

ESPN has the Herd ahead of the Toppers.

and that happens to be the only one I care about ;-)

We've been snubbed 2 of the last 3 years, however, three years ago waa only because we were in the Sun Belt and had announced our departure the week of the final game of the season. The Sun Belt had one to many teams, the decision was easy on who was sitting at home. Last season was because we went 6-6. A win against FIU or UTEP and we would have been bowling. Nothing to do with a lack of love.

The same Memphis who lost to Houston? That Houston who got drilled at home by UTSA? And almost everyone in C-USA beat UTSA.

Sorry, not buying it. 07-coffee3

I simply can't be upset about going 10-3, defeating BYU in a bowl game...and we managed to keep the coach.

MTSU won't get snubbed this year or any other year for that fact. The one good thing about having 107 bowl games is everyone with a winning record gets a game which in the grand scheme of things I'm ok with.

Every 6-6 P5 was getting in a bowl game already it's time G5s aren't left at home either.

the same UTSA who went to a bowl game?? Oops...I forgot.
UTSA would have had Frosty the Snowman's chance of walking thru Downtown Hell in gasoline underwear against Memphis.
