AAC will have Memphis, Cincy, UCF, ECU and Temple all beating each other up.
MWC will have Boise, Utah State and Colorado State doing the same.

Disagree with the latter. Boise returns virtually everyone from last season and will steamroll the MWC. Their games against Washington and at Virginia will determine their fate this year. If they win those, they have the G5 bid, period.

We can agree to disagree. Utah State has been projected as a dark horse for the access bowl by a few outlets and Boise plays in Logan and in Fort Collins. Plus what kind of team will BYU have? They are game two on Boise's schedule.

I think thou has overstated the threat this year of Ohio and MTSU.

But not of WKU or FAU, both of whom we beat last year...

I can't see Fau in Arizona. The bowl people want fans and how many would go to lovely desert hot Arizona to watch Fau play there. If they would make a bowl they'd probably be in one closer to home.

I would say our bowl teams will be Marshall, WKU, Tech, Rice, UTEP, ODU, and FAU.

NOTE: It would not surprise me if FIU or USM replace any of our second-tier bowl teams. MTSU just doesn't ever seem to get any love from any of the bowls for some reason 01-wingedeagle

The fact that he beat out Holcombe who has been in 6 or 7 camps at Marshall tells me they see something in the big redhead. Still no guarantee. And we have came in as a two TD fav over the Boilermakers. I wouldn't bet $100 but I like our chances.

Birdsong might prove to be a revelation for the Herd, but his 2013 stats also include 16 ints. and 31 sacks (I realize that not all of those stats are ever solely on a qb.)

Yeah he's had some bumps, but coming off losing a four year starter at QB, I'll take the guy that's had starting experience anywhere. Most sophomore QB's throw some interceptions, etc, but that's how they learn to read defenses. All's I'm saying is I'm glad he's not fresh of the turnip truck.

And I bet he didn't have the off firepower to help him that he will have here this time around. Besides Johnson and 3 returnees on the line there are 5 receivers who caught TD passes last yr. We are loaded. If he doesn't move the ball fairly quick Litton will be inserted. Both RBs also caught TDs. Defense a bit more worrisome but lots return with exp but not necess starters. We also added some older help there like 2013. Three players who sat out and two transfers. The cupboard is far from bare. Three of four kickers are back. Don't have a clue about special teams.

If FAU became bowl eligible they will go to St. Pete, Miami or Bahamas before ever being looked at for the Arizona bowl.

Now UTEP would be an ideal candidate and could kick off that bowl game nicely.

I can see it now...UTEP vs New Mexico

That is certainly true but the flip side is he wasn't facing FBS defenses week after week either.
Again, he has had some time to develop and mature as a player so maybe he has corrected some of his deficiencies.

Miami- Marshall
Bahamas- MTSU
NOLA- Rice
HOD- WKU
New Mexico- Tech
Tuscon- UTEP
St. Pete- USM

Not what I would want as a Tech fan (HOD) but legitimate guesses.

Memphis will feature its best offensive attack since the Danny Wimprine/Deangelo Williams years. We might take a step back defensively...having lost 8(?) players to graduation...but a lot of our backups had playing time last season...so the learning curve shouldn't be too steep.
The AAC title will go thru Memphis, UCF, or Cincy this year (with Houston being a notable darkhorse candidate).

We'll get a good idea of conference pecking order this year...as The Miami Beach Bowl...and the St. Petersburg Bowl both have CUSA vs AAC teams.

MTSU lost badly to Memphis last season...as I suspect a lot of CUSA teams would have.

Teams currently in the AAC had a 7 game losing streak against teams currently in C-USA until Memphis beat MTSU last year. So, the answer to your question is 1.
