They must be Fedex janitors. You clearly don't know what is going on.

You know part of me wants for you guys wanting all this attention put into basketball to see how quick of a dumpster fire will be made with that short sighted move. The university has way way bigger ambitions and plans than paying a huge buy out and paying crazy money for a new coach just because there is an unhealthy hate for current coach after his first bad season.

RE: STR: $EC getting serious about Hoops?
What is it about after midnight around here? Will you all collectively relax a little?
There is likely not one true answer to what ails some parts of the Tigers Ath Dept. Opinions welcome, but calling each other idiots gets really old.
People have different opinions.
You don't like their opinion, don't call them an idiot. Engage. That's the fun of this place. Embrace the differences of opinion. Many of us LIKE contrary opinions, it's where the new ideas come from.
>>>>
For the record, I really think the powers that be are trying their damnedest to get us in the P5. I am not sure whether it will work, and we won't know until we know. With the differences in the AAC contract (low 7 digits: $3-4M?) and the P5 contracts ($18M - infinity?), we need to marshall our resources to our best advantage.
Of course the money is there to replace Pastner if the powers that be feel it is the priority, but with FB driving the bus, it makes a ton of sense to switch resources there if the long term positive is that Tigers athletics survive and thrive at a high level.
There are ABSOLUTELY reasons to assert that the potential of funding BB less for whatever reason is anathema to the Memphis Brand, and I would not call anyone that disagrees with me an idiot. Reasonable minds can and do disagree.
It's never personal, it's just a discussion. You don't like someone says, then respectfully try to convince them otherwise. Persuasion > Invective.
OK, off soapbox. Back to nightshift sketching for my nutty retail client.

I know people too. And they would strenuously disagree with this sentiment. And I am not guessing or thinking either.

We already have a quality head coach.
This might help you (you're welcome in advance):

yes, we do. his name is justin fuente. i'm talking about a quality basketball coach.
Willie, you just got,

Memphis had a nice season last year...but we did not play UCF or ECU.
When we played someone equal to us in terms of talent (Houston) we lost.
Anointing Fuente based on one good year isn't wise.
Now if he wins the AAC THIS year (he'd have to beat say UCF or ECU in a AAC title game) then you'd have somethng.
Hm...what was Josh Pastner's winning percentage after year 3 again?

I'm sure people are on both sides of the fence.. I just presume mine are on the opposite side of yours.. But I do hope the ones I know are wrong.. Again they are not saying there isn't a possibility, they just think the % is low.. I personally have no idea and I hope you are right.. In fact you saying this gives me more hope.. I'm an Alumni and played ball for Memphis but I'm just a peon when it comes to "in the know" things.. I'm just going off of what some people close to the FB program have told me..

You are correct nothing is a done deal. The people I have talked to think the percentage is much better than low though, and have pointed out to specific things that have been done/being done to succesfully make the leap (ie not just a brochure).

uh, the football program accomplished something they had not done since the 1970s...win a conference championship. that's a BIG deal.
and since you don't mind crapping on the football conference schedule, then you won't mind me crapping on pastner's inflated win percentage since it is mostly against garbage cusa competition.

Are you really trying to diminish what Fuente has done, especially last year, to prop up Pastner?

Pastner played everyone within CUSA. Not just the weaker siblings in conference.
I'm more of a football fan than basketball....but on stats alone, Pastner did better his first 3 years.
I LIKE Fuente....but last year we avoided the heavyweights. And we lost to teams similar in talent to us...or to teams with better talent...so in that Fuente has accomplished about as much as Pastner.
If Pastner had not won CUSA...you folks wouldn't be talking about how he beat creampuff CUSA teams....you'd be bemoaning the fact that he couldn't win a title in the weak CUSA.
Cannot have it both ways.
