I agree - and it's a smart move on their part IMO. Best-case scenario, they get their home run hire; worst-case scenario, as you said, they have plenty of time to do their research into alternative options.

The only real negative to waiting is that their 2015 recruiting class is falling apart, but from what I've read, their class wasn't going to be very big anyway. Whoever the coach ends up being will still have a little time to recoup some of the previous verbals prior to the February signing date.

The scary part of the recruiting scenario at UofM... is that once they get their coach settled and need to start their searches late... I fear they may go after some of our higher touted commits due to the shrinking pool of available athletes...

On the other hand, who would want to play for UM? They suck.

Ehhh, "Not So Fast". UM's not to the point where they've been sucking so bad diminishing their name, that even at a more opportunistic time like now to be a starter sooner, a recruit would say "No, I'm going to WMU."

Now, I could see *A* player thinking that -- due to him being hounded by WMU, and UM being "ehh" about him.

Nobody wants to play at UM. Especially for anybody that would want to coach there.

Would be good for Saban and a few other guys. I think sabans deal changes to always make him the highest paid coach but it might have changed with his new deal. I know other coaches have contracts that say they get like the avg of the 5 highest paid coaches or something like that. That 48 million dollar amount has been out there for a while but this is the first time I have seen it with the length of the contract. Its going to take at least that to get him to ScUM.

I think the Detroit media just released its 100th puff piece on Harbaugh this past month.

I've seen fewer in-depth articles on candidates during US presidential elections. That said, after the endless hype, I'll laugh if UM doesn't get their 'Michigan Man' off the Bo coaching tree.

Just saw a rumor from somebody who has family working somewhere within this mess that apparently Harbaugh is going to announce his decision (likely this means signing at UM) on sunday and will be attending the UM Shooty Hoops game on monday.

Next U-M Coach
One article said he already agreed to terms with Michigan in private one week ago (last Thursday), and he was just waiting until after the 49ers final regular season game to announce the decision.
