But he won 2 then 4 if he wins 6 next year then he is in the right track.
lol really? 2 of those wins were comebacks against SMU and Tulsa and a comeback win against WESTERN CAROLINA.
Forget win total, was this team really better than last year?
We were, but barely. And given how bad we were last year, that's not saying much.
We had way more younger players playing this year than last. Last year we had a pretty good defense with experience. Not this year. I will say that this year was more talented but less experienced than last year.
I'd also like take a moment to give a shout out to Cyber Bull, who assured me earlier this year that UCF would have trouble containing Marlon Mack and he'd be the best back we face all year.
He went for 32 yards. The team rushed for 5 yards total.

With 22 starters being either freshmen, RS freshmen or sophomores.... you kind of had to expect a couple rough years. I am not ready to give up on Taggart. I am not 100% sold on him but he did recruit the #1 class in the AAC last year and is putting together a solid class this year. Skippy never did that.... and thats why we went downhill. It takes time to build back up talent levels.
It also killed us that Skippy didnt land a quality QB in the 3 years he was here. Most good programs always have the next guy in the pipline. When Taggart took over he had freshmen and former walk ons... thats how bad it was.
I dont see huge improvement coming next year. Our schedule is REALLY unfriendly. We have Maryland and FSU on the road, and most of the top of the AAC we take on the road. Not a good schedule for us but in 2016 it flips and I think that will help, plus all of those 22 young kids we have playing will have 3-4 years experience.
Hang in there. We have 1 more rocky year coming up and then I see the light ahead.

Been saying this for years and I get bombarded every time. Judy is the problem.

Judy is part of the issue but Skip isnt an upper league coach. Hes lazy and doesnt like to recruit. The dude made over a dozen trips to go golfing out west when he should have been recruiting.
Hes a good coach at the sunbelt type level... he was horrible at our level. Talk about a guy who couldnt make ANY in game adjustments.
The biggest issue is the age of the program and University. We dont have leadership that is willing to spend and we dont have the age to have developed the donors and history to have deep fanbase.... it takes time.

She wont spend on athletics... very slow to do it. Took her 8 years to finally upgrade the Sundome, baseball and Softball, soccer and build practice fields.
also, she is hesitant to drop serious money on top notch coaches. She gave Holtz nearly $2 million but then didnt give him very much for assistants, then she gabe Taggart $1.18 million and increased the assistant pool.
She needs to realize that to be in this game, you need to drop $2 million on coaches and have $500K for each coordinator... and that not having some facilities are hurting us. If she had spent 5 years earlier, I am not certain we get totally left out and are in the position we are in.
Nice part is, our new AD gets it. Harlan is already working donors to get what Judy wont spend... and hes working the phone with the B12. He worked with 4 of the Big 12 ADs and has kept up the relationship with them. Then theres also USF former Asst AD is the AD at Kansas. Those 5 relationships keeps us in the conversation, even when were down. Hes essentially playing the role that Leroy Selman did for us when we got into the Big East.
Now we just have to put it all together and give him a package he can sell. Basketball, Baseball and Soccer are on their way... football is a couple years away.

Dude you have no idea what you are talking about. Not willing to spend? Usf is currently paying 3 head coaches. Usf football budget is comparable to UCF and both are at the top of the American in football spending.
Skip a sun belt level coach? CUSA while ezu made their runs was at a similar level to American now featuring multiple ranked teams every year. Usf isn't a high level program in any sense the word.
Usf is currently paying holtz to play in a championship game lol
Fact is USF is a dumpster fire and it has little to do with head coaching

Thanks for telling me about my program... As usual a UCF fan running at the mouth with no clue. Were paying those coaches not becasue of Genshaft but despite her. She had signed off on extensions for both of them just a couple years earlier. It was the Board along with our donors that came in and said enough, otherwise Skippy would have stayed.
You also have to remember that Skip NEVER COACHED IN THE AAC. He was Big East coach and that is why I said he isnt an upper level coach. Its really sad that I have to point this out to you. Do some mild research before you post.
Lastly as most know, the yearly football budget is not where you find expenditures for major projects such as an Indoor Practice facility (which she has been "looking into" for 6 years) and an OCS. It took her the better part of a decade to spend money that she had promised the Big East she would spend at the beginning.
So, hopefully you have a clue now and I wont have to keep coming back to a thread to explain to you. There is sooo much more to what I have said but I dont have the time or inclination to explain to you the politics of my university.
