No - I wish they were still in the league since Memphis does not play UCF and UCF could have gotten that access bowl slot for AAC.

Actually we also have several in football: 1938, 1968, 1969, 1971. Of course, those championships were won decades before UCF had a team. 05-stirthepot

Guessing the 1968-71 seasons were under the legendary Spook Murphy.

point of order - N. Texas is recognized as the 1971 MVC football champ with a 3-1 record. Memphis (St), Drake and Tulsa were listed next as tied for second with 2-1 records. Memphis went to the Pasadena Bowl simply because N. Texas only won 3 games that season.

They will have multiple trophies. The Bearcats seem to be in this position fairly often. This would be 3 out of 4 years with a conference trophy and never the ONLY champ.

Thank for clearing that up. I've been incorrect for a long time. I've been misleading folks for a few months, years, or even perhaps decades about that. I was away from home and out of the loop that season thanks to my uncle had some work he wanted me to do. :)

This does make me wonder... if there is no tie-breaker resulting in co-champs, is there only 1 trophy that uses the non-existent tie-breaker or are there multiple trophies?

Are you saying that UCF has done in a short amount of time what Memphis has done since 1938? Now I see the reason for your snicker, and I wholeheartedly agree.

As Jeb pointed out above, '71 was not a conference championship for Memphis (State). While we were the conference representative in a bowl game, the championship was won by NTSU/UNT; they just didn't win enough games to qualify for a bowl game.
