Perry also said that they were considering beefing up the Texas Rangers and sending them down.

That might help stem the tide but that doesn't solve the problem of what we do with the children already here. The law says we cannot deport them.

Do what Clinton did with Elian Gonzalez and reunite them with their parents. It's the compassionate and humanitarian thing to do.

You're right. That kid really looks like he feels the compassion. 03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao

He's with his father now. His mother died trying to get to this country. It was a lose-lose situation.

If you close the border you limit the size of the problem. Otherwise it just keeps growing.

Unfortunately, the real reason Perry hasn't called out the guard is his presidential run. If he wasn't going to run, he would have called them out already.

The same way immigrants prove that they are qualified to go to public school. They show a water bill.

Excellent point. Most of the guns these cartel members own came from guns purchased at gun shows.

What an idiotic assertion. Prove it.

Hardly definitive, it seemed to indicate straw purchases were more responsible. And not for nothing, walking guns across the border to see where they ended up was brilliant too huh. As far reaching and powerful as the cartels are I dare say they'd find guns somewhere else if they had to.

How does that prove anything about identity, citizenship, or national origin?

Quote:Gov. Rick Perry will announce this afternoon that he will activate up to 1,000 National Guard troops for border duty in the Rio Grande Valley, a source in the governor’s office with knowledge of the announcement confirmed this morning. The announcement will be made at a 2 p.m. press conference at the Capitol, at which Perry will be joined by Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst.

Quote:Gov. Rick Perry is holding a press conference on border security this afternoon at the Capitol at which he is expected to announce that he will activate the Texas National Guard to help secure the Texas-Mexico border amid the dramatic influx of unaccompanied minors from Central America.

Quote:Perry repeatedly urged President Barack Obama, before, during and after his two-day visit to Texas July 9 and 10, to immediately deploy 1,000 National Guard troops to the border to help handle the crush of border crossers and allow the Border Patrol to get back to the job of securing the border. The governor’s request for 1,000 Guard troops on the border dates back to a 2009 letter to the president.

After meeting with Perry in Dallas, Obama said he would consider the request, but said it was not a permanent answer and that the better option was for Congress to quickly pass a $3.7 billion emergency spending measure to more comprehensively address the situation. He asked Perry to help to lobby for passage of the spending plan, which has not been received favorably by Republicans in Congress. Instead, Perry reiterated that the president really should visit the border and see what’s going on there for himself, and renewed his request to bring the Guard to the border.

I have no doubt. That doesn't diminish the fact however that they don't have to.

As far as the weapons bring used and their origin.....Ask The Racist Eric Holder and the DOJ. "Fast & Furious" ....anyone?

Drones would work wonders or even better, a few AC - 130 Gunships. Since they are accustomed to .50 caliber rounds.
