The Texas National Guard is under control of the governor and could be activated and sent to the border.
And also I was wondering why that hadn't been done.

Excellent point. Most of the guns these cartel members own came from guns purchased at gun shows.

I called Perry's office and bitched at him for not having a contingency plan. The office told me that since the FEDS were saying it was a refugee situation, the national guard option was off the table, currently. Perry also said that they were considering beefing up the Texas Rangers and sending them down.
