Mitchell is a great athlete with a strong arm, but he never played enough to see if his decision making and accuracy were consistent. He was stuck behind mallett and wilson up until this year and came out of spring as the #2 QB, but it was close. I was hoping he could keep battling for the job (some of our fans wanted him to win it) or at least use him in some wildcat packages, but i wish him luck wherever he goes and wouldnt be surprised if he goes closer to home in louisiana
It's still speculation, of course, but my opinion of JP's situation - still an opinion - remains that he just abandons his progressions too soon for McGee's taste...and McGee's wanted this team learning his system last year and mastering it this year.
As for Brown, I took from McGee's comments that he was developing a grasp of the system at QB last year, but from the grapevine my opinion is that Brown was making the reads he was given (although that means he was learning the system, his understanding seems to have been less than I'd hoped...expected for a freshman, of course).
and I found this as a bonus (oh the kids today... I can see why they live on the "Tube"):
"We eat ribs with this dude"
Back on topic, I would say that we need to do whatever we can to make sure we are taken care of at QB for THIS SEASON. It's a shame that our school which has been so astoundingly lucky at the position can't stay so, when, for once, the other pieces are starting to come together.

Play Mitchell at LB, Play him at WR. Play him at RB, but please get him here and play him.
