RE: The Walking Dead on AMC (warning: spoilers inside)
The premise is great, the writing is lazy as can be. They could, at the very least, have his soldiers standing in front of him so there is not a completely clear and clean shot. But no, they have to be lazy and have him standing in the wide-open and people who can hit a zombie in the brain from 2 miles away all of a sudden can't land a single bullet. It is one of the reasons I really don't like the show. I watch it because I have watch parties with my friends and they all are into it. I just hate shows where they constantly have to do really stupid things to cause drama.

Interview from Scott Gimple why Rick didn't shoot Negan when he had the chance.

Interesting read for those who care.

It’s also worth remembering that once violence did erupt and the surrender was declined, Rick made two concerted and prolonged attempts to gun Negan down and would’ve done so if he didn’t have the accuracy of a blindfolded Stormtrooper. Concessions also have to made in terms of not expecting too much realism from a TV show centered the dead coming back to life and eating the living. Yes, Rick arguably could have shot Negan in the season 8 premiere but that would make the remaining 15 episodes of “All Out War” very boring indeed.

This show isn't good.

It may be entertaining, but it's not good TV in a critical sense.

Agreed, but I'm invested at this point and will see it out.

So basically any show or movie can do whatever and the viewers should just close their eyes and buy into it since it isn't real anyway. My problem is that it is so easily fixable but they are so lazy they refuse to do so. Why not have Negan walk out with 4 female hostages holding children in front of him? Then the question does not even come up on why someone didn't just shoot Negan. It also makes it realistic instead of some stupid "not expecting too much realism from a TV show centered the dead coming back to life and eating the living" explanation.

They just don't care is how it seems to me.
