You mean the confrence, where they get more than 8,000 people for their homecoming game? Or you mean the confrence that will remain a D1A confrence past next year??
In either case, it sure isn't the MAC. We tried but you just can't convince OSU fans to come out to watch Miami Lite, Ohio, Toledump, Bowling Green, Akron, or Kent. And you can't convince Michigan and Michigan State fans to come out and watch North East West South Centeral Middle Eastern Western Michigan.
NIU led the MAC in attendance..not MUgs. But you knew that didn't you....
Well
Good for them. MAC Math was used I'm sure. So, NIU stays 1A along with what, 2 other schools maybe?? That's a 3 team confrence. Sounds good.
oh, and notice smart guy West Virginia is a state. Its not Western Virginia. But, none the less I'm actually from Virginia. But, since I'm in North Carolina now I guess that's the same huh tough guy?

What's humorous about all of this is MAC fans will overwhelmingly root for the Herd to beat Cinci.
Because...
1) Marshall is still in the MAC and a win counts for the MAC in the record books and for the ESPN Conference Bowl Trophy; and
2) Cinci fans and coaches are much more caustic of the MAC.
Furthermore, CUSA will also overwhelmingly root for the Herd to beat Cinci.
Because...
1) Marshall will be a new member of CUSA; and
2) Cinci is leaving CUSA.
MAC & CUSA Fans rooting together? A common enemy (aka Cinci) truly makes for strange bedfellows.

I'm not so sure about that.

Motown Bronco Wrote:Not to mention that a read a smattering of fans on the Herd 'Vine - a message board for die hard fans if there ever was one - swearing that they "wouldn't cross the street" to watch their team play that last game.
Herd fans are under this impression that their fan base is immune to any win-loss cycles. But give Marshall a couple sub-.500 seasons or so, and the ridiculous "15K law" will suddenly become a topic of conversation in Huntington too.
Well for starters, for whatever reason the vine has kind of dried up, most of the posters are on Herdnation.
And, 19,000 is pretty bad, but WMU?? Come on. But that's still over twice what a certain team drew for homecoming and 4,000 more than most most MAC teams even averaged.

I'm not so sure about that.
Me either.
But after the treatment from the OSU and Michigan fans that "root" for other MAC schools I sure as heck won't pull for a MAC team period, unless its against VPI, then I don't know what I'll do.

And, all of the MAC teams should bow down and be greatful to the Herd for keeping the MAC DIA for a while. Without us, there will be no MAC in 1A unless of course they change the rules so all those wastelands in Ohio and Michigan can continue to promote 1A football, not that anyone will be in the stands watching to care either way. Good luck in 1AA in a couple of years. We won it our last year there, let's see you try your hand at it..
It's posts like this that bring ridicule upon the Herd. Geez. 2001 grad of what?
Make your case then. Where were you prior to 1997? Did anyone know who/what the MAC was, did anyone care?
Also, since you are a genious how many MAC schools met the 15,000 att. rule this year?? or last year, or any year for that matter??
Hey, dimwit, there was no 15k attendance rule last year or any other year. You sure have made a great start here with your initial posts.
Newsflash: The MAC existed before Marshall and will be just fine without the likes of your type. Thanks for stopping by. Thankfully, we have also have had posts from some pretty good Marshall folks during the Herd's stay in the MAC. You will not be counted among their number however.
Despite your immature rantings, I will still be pulling for Marshall to beat Cinci.

Quote:I don't think anyone is pissy about it. Anyone with logic and the understanding that there are 56 teams eligible for 56 spots knows that Marshall is going to a bowl game.
That's the amusing part of all this. There will be some (not all) that will claim that Marshall grabbed that bowl slot by an unquenching national appetite for more Herd on their TV screens. But in actuality, everyone with a winning record, aside from the two brawling teams and maybe Akron, is pretty much guaranteed a bowl bid this year.

Actually, that would be a "State," not a "state," and you'll notice I said the school is in West Virginia, not you. So sorry, if my comment on the irony of your lame attempt to flame MAC schools got under your skin...or maybe it's that loss to Akron still eating you, or the subsequent whitewashing at Bowling Green.
I actually hope Marshall notches a win over Cincinnati (MAC over cUSA), so I wish your team well. However...if the Herd flops, I can at least take pleasure in knowing that Herdinoid fans like yourself will be grinding their teeth on the way to that "better" conference with more bowl opportunities.

Never said there was. Just asking how many school in the MAC will qualify to be 1A in 2 years?? I bet the rule gets changed, but I hope not!!! Maybe you can form a rival in Youngstown St.!!

Look no further than sites like goodbyeherd.com that put a very biter taste in my mouth for the whole MAC. Very clever, but none the less just a reminder of why I hate every school in the confrence. And, schools with no fans either at that or well, I guess those 100 dieharders I can't stand much.

And I've seen better uniforms on High School fields across the country than that awful orange crap. It rivals that of Oregon, no doubt!!.

You'd better hope that rule is overturned. Two or three sub-.500 years, and Marshall will be sweating the 15K mark as well. Guaranteed.
