Sweet 16 set in women's college volleyball tourney. Creighton will play Arizona State on Thursday for a chance to advance to the Elite Eight.

The Big East also had Marquette (which won its first match) and Xavier (which lost its first match) in the tourney.

League breakdown for the 16 remaining:

Big Ten: five

ACC: four

SEC: three

Big 12: two

Big East: one

Big West: one (Cal Poly)

Creighton advances to the elite 8!

In soccer, it looks like our last two BE men’s teams lost in the elite 8. But still a good showing.

We will need it! I believe Kentucky and Creighton were the only two schools to take Nebraska to 5 sets this year. Cool to see them match up in the elite 8

Shows just how high-level women’s volleyball is in Nebraska. One team (Huskers) is undefeated for the season and the other team is one of only two teams that could take the Huskers to a 5th set. Creighton has never made a final 4 in volleyball, so a win would be history making

I understand that high school girls' volleyball is a very big deal in Nebraska.

I always watch the Final Four for the college game. Looking forward to it.

Good luck to the Creighton volleyball ladies today vs. Kentucky. The game will be played at 4 p.m. CST in Lexington, Ky.

Basketball related, but I don't know if there's a more appropriate thread to mention that 5 out of 10 starters in the NBA Finals are pure Big East players. 5 of them never played outside the conference.

Yes, and 4 of the 5 won national championships when they were in college. 04-jawdrop

Yeah kinda crazy. Champagnie-Posh SJU team was fun to watch, too. I think it's great for the conference to be well-represented at the highest level. Perhaps we should dedicate a thread for our alumni?

There are only 16 teams left playing for the NCAA baseball championship, with St. John's being one of them. If they win the Super Regional against Alabama this weekend they would be in the college World Series. St John's ranks 11th all time in total number of appearances in NCAA baseball tournament, but haven't been to the College World series since 1980.

Id be more than happy to put away my CU blue and don some SJU red and show up and root for them. Make it happen!
