I'd say Plaster, Aggie Memorial, Houchens or Joe Aillet are not that far ahead either.
Clueless old fart offers his two cents!

By all means offer anything other than insults. Built around the same time, the Mavs has a higher capacity press box, higher capacity, both have tracks, the locker, training, weight rooms and Mav Club area is bigger.
Maybe you'd offer what you know of the Mav rather than be the normal useless, flame throwing, previously banned poster you are. But unlike you, I have been to both and know what is there.
maverick stadium could form the basis for a decent stadium. it gets used often so the surface is periodically replaced, the lighting was built to tv standards, the pressbox and west stands are built of concrete not prefab metal and the east stands could easily be enlarged. they would need to build an operations building/stands at the south end and add some parking spaces as a big piece of the original lot has been repurposed for other uses. I am old enough to remember the band marching down greek row gathering up fans on the way to the stadium for games. it was pretty cool.
LOL. Could it be that the UTA leadership has been wise to unnaturally prolong our wait for football, until such a time as now when there are very few FBS, FCS, D-II or other potentially viable conference upgrade pretenders remaining? It would be rich to see the likes of UTA, Wichita State, GCU and Gonzaga suddenly appear as FBS schools, like the Florida schools (UCF, USF, FIU) did a few years ago.

Which was almost his identical Tweet about UTEP/MWC the day before they joined.
Whether it’s a MWC or CUSA invite, if/when Tarleton accepts the invite, the WAC will be on thin ice! Only 7 members in 2026, and needing an 8th by 2028! That’s assuming, nobody else leaves

That's a big assumption. WAC is circling the drain and likely will live on in name only, and that's too bad because most of the survivors will have a hard time continuing as independents or as members of even more far-flung conferences.

Maverick Stadium would need a major renovation. Adding a scoreboard isn’t going to cut it.
But, I see your point although moot as it is.
My only guess is that UTA is more commuter school than traditional student.
Commuters have ZERO interest in Athletics because most are older and career oriented.
And certainly, if the program does make a comeback, the Mav will either be renovated, they'll play in Choctaw Stadium or build a new venue on campus.
That being said, as Maverick Stadium is now, it is better than Bowers. Tell me where I'm wrong. Tell me anything Bowers has over the Mav.
And no commuter students don't have zero. They have less interest or desire, but not zero. When UTA wins, they draw.
1) There's roughly 10,000 students who live on or near campus but have little reason to engage with the Athletics program due to one bungle after another. See what we were building with our basketball program, then firing the coach who did it after three 20-win seasons. Those aren't commuter students.
2) Last year, UTA was top half in the conference for attendance for all team sports except baseball. There's a good following and I doubt football would be any different.
There is no doubt the student population is there.
I trust you are more aware of dynamics of UTA than myself. So, I am left to assume that Football is not a priority which is a complete whiff because of the school spirit it brings.
Other than one poster, we pretty much agree. My reading of the tea leaves is that few are willing to stick their necks out and take a risk. I haven't had more than a cordial exchange with the AD. I tried for a Q&A for the blog over the summer, but didn't get a response. I'll keep trying.

FBS conferences need eight full, football-playing members. Any other conference just needs six.
That said, CBU is going to be a highly-probable WCC target. UVU has said they've been in contact with two conferences the last couple of years. Utah Tech and SUU will have options as they have a FB program. I haven't heard much about ACU lately but do know they despise the SLC and that will be a last resort thing but cettainly they have options the same way.

FBS is 8 FCS 6 and I THINK you have to have 7 for an autobid in the Big Dance. The only thing I have seen is that you must play at least 14 conference games to qualify which I would assume means 8 members, but I have also heard all you have to have is 7. Can someone clarify this on the basketball side of things.

At about 3:30 of this video a multi sports conference must have 7 schools.
