RE: PAC12 Reforming
Even without any moves, Grand Canyon and Seattle leaving likely is the end for WAC Swimming and Diving. The Mountain West would have three of the four remaining members on the men's side, and the Big Sky would have four of the seven remaining members on the women's side (the WAC has two and thr Southland has one).
WAC men's soccer is OK for now, as the WAC would still have seven even if the Pac-12 sponsors it and San Diego State is no longer an affiliate. Right now the WAC and MW (Air Force x San Jose State, UNLV) have three members each among those that remain. Further expansion by the Pac-12may jeopardize the WAC's sponsorship.
The WAC may be down to just six in baseball if Sacramento State joins the Mountain West. If anyone other than Southern Utah leaves this pushes WAC baseball below six.
Men's tennis will be down to two members and women's tennis will be down to four members next season.
I really don't see how the WAC survives this barring a complete breakup of the Summit League. Not only would NDSU and SDSU go FBS, but someone else has to push the Summit below seven before the WAC loses anyone, i.e. St. Thomas to the MVC.
Maybe there's a scenario where the WAC swallows the Summit:
NDSU and SDSU from Summit to Mountain West
Illinois State from MVC to MAC
St. Thomas from Summit to MVC
Eastern Kentucky, Austin Peay, Central Arkansas from ASUN to C-USA
Tarleton from WAC to C-USA
which leaves us with a WAC that looks like this:
Cal Baptist, Southern Utah, Utah Tech, Utah Valley, Denver, Omaha
North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas City, Oral Roberts, Abilene Christian, Texas-Arlington
WAC Football: Southern Utah, Utah Tech, Abilene Christian, North Dakota, South Dakota, Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois, Indiana State, Youngstown State
West Georgia and North Alabama affiliate with the OVC/Big South for football.
Cal Baptist eventually leaves for the WCC or Mountain West (who needs some presence in Southern California) and is replaced by a Division II upgrade from Texas.
