Chevron used to be Standard Oil which was Standard Oil of California when it was formed. They have been in California since the 1800s, long before the current lunacy there.

It's disheartening when companies leaving Commiefornia for other states aren't forthcoming about the REAL reasons like Musk did. He explicitly told them that he wasn't happy that the state would take over responsiblity for its children. You know, the transgender boondoggle. He didn't mince words like Chevron did, all they said was it's money related but it's companies imperative that companies remain politically correct. Heck, Devil Gruesome is trying to kill their industry and Chevron is still trying not to hurt feelings. Elon Muskish they aren't.

Memo from Texans to immigrants from California:

Remember, you are coming here as refugees, not missionaries. Don't Californicate Texas.

Actually, a lot of the Chevron people were originally Texans. I know at least a couple who got transferred to California from Houston.

And you aren't going to see a lot of people in the oil and gas industry vote for Democrats who want to throw them out of work.

This isn't what you think it is. It's basically just an address change. Chevron has like 30% of the market in California. They aren't going to abandon that.

Quote:That’s not what happened today, spokesperson Ross Allen said. The company will continue operating two of the state’s nine remaining refineries, keep pulling oil from the ground and leave its 1,800 branded stations in place. The only immediate effect will be to move CEO Mike Wirth and Vice Chair Mark Nelson to Houston, where Chevron already has some 7,000 employees, this year, with most of the rest of the 2,000 employees in San Ramon to follow over the next five years.

Probably trying to avoid some sort of crazy California exit tax.

If the CEO and CFO are changing addresses, they'll also want the rest of the executive team around them. And the rest of the executive team will want everyone they deal with day-to-day to move, too. And so-on down the line.

In the end it will probably be several hundred to a thousand or so very high paying jobs.

Chevron's top management is leaving, they are not stopping doing business there. That said, that is a lot of income tax revenue heading east. Top Brass at Chevron make some serious dough.

It is a big deal for a number of reasons, never mind the negative PR it brings.

You're giving Liberals too much credit. How did Ol' Foggy fare with Pennsylvania. Those jackasses voted themselves out of a job. It's laughable how stupid people can be sometimes. "Hey, if it's okay with you we're gonna take away your jobs!" "Duh, okay."

Not sure if they got that one through.

But, they are also avoiding the State income taxes which i believe is in the double digits itself. Move the HQ to Tejas and save millions.

No brainer. And no, no one thought they meant shut it all down and leave the State altogether. Still plenty of business to do there. Change the mailing address and it’s a win-win.

If leftist policies are so wonderful then why is the most liberal state in the country losing people and businesses.

"California’s population and job growth have both slowed to a trickle, with many citing concerns about high taxes, cost of living and heavy regulations. With the rise of remote work in 2020, over 135,000 more people left California than moved in -- the third largest net migration loss ever recorded for the state. Although some big names have committed to stay, one recent survey found that two of every three Bay Area workers would leave the area permanently if they could continue to work from home indefinitely. Dropbox, Twitter, and Facebook are among the Bay Area companies that have already offered permanent remote work to most employees."

Democrats have done a wonderful job in making California a place people would like to leave.
