Woman killed in KC Super Bowl parade shooting was local DJ, mother of 2

According to reports from KCTV5, Lopez-Galvan, 44, is the only one to be confirmed killed in the shooting that took place at the parade on Wednesday. She was a popular radio host in the Hispanic community on the station KKFI 90.1 FM.

The station wrote in a Facebook post, “It is with sincere sadness and an extremely heavy and broken heart that we let our community know that KKFI DJ Lisa Lopez, host of Taste of Tejano lost her life today in the shooting at the KC Chiefs’ rally."

“Our hearts and prayers are with her family. We encourage anyone who feels they saw something to reach out to law enforcement at 816 234 5111."

“She was the most wonderful, beautiful person,” said a coworker and friend to Lopez-Galvan. “She was a local DJ. She did everybody’s weddings. We all know her. She was so full of life.”

Other reports shared information that she leaves behind her spouse as well as two children. Over 20 others were injured in the shooting and three others are in critical condition. Lopez took a gunshot to her abdomen and succumbed to her injuries.

In a Wednesday evening press conference, KC police told reporters that three people have been taken into custody as suspects in the shooting.

In total, the officers said there were 22 people shot, including one fatality. Lopez-Galvan was the one fatality mentioned and the department said that 8 others had immediately life-threatening injuries.

Yeah, I posted another tweet with that picture and name and quickly realized it was false and removed it.

I suppose at some future point there will be a news story on the two suspects; their background, how they came to attend the celebration, etc.

He then said that the only reason the identities of the shooters who committed the crime have not been released yet is because they are juveniles and not their race. This is despite that the juveniles will be charged as adults in the mass shooting.

In 2021, Lucas announced plans to defund the KC Police Department by 47 million dollars and that the reason for the decision was centered around “listening to black and brown people."

He suggested that $47 million cut from the department "is not actually a lot." He then railed on those who live outside the city for making suggestions on how to solve crime in the town.

Lucas is right; the "dog whistle" term used by the Governor was flagrant racism and Parson should be removed from office for offending the murderers in such a public manner.

Hmmmm....but since Mayor Lucas made the decision to cut $47m from the KC Police Dept, did that action contribute to any increase in criminal activity since 2021? The female brown person was killed at the SB celebration parade and a number of children sustained serious injuries. Is it OK with the Mayor if we bring that up; is that permissable?

Lucas owns his decisions regardless. Cut another $47m from the police dept, dude. Maybe the next gang shootout will be at a Chiefs Monday Night game next season.
