What difference does a drop in homicide rates make to most of us? Most homicide is big city inner city. How many people here live in one of those? Hell how many people here even care what happens in one of those? I know I don't.

These drops, if there are any, are probably more attributable to the way these cities report crimes than to any actual declines.

We are living in dangerous times now more than at any other point in my life and the mad monk is pissing down our backs while telling us it's raining.

The drop is due to the spike during COVID. Basically, homicides are back to precovid levels. They weren't low then, so they aren't low now. They are actually up in several cities. This announcement is nothing more than putting lipstick on a pig.
