Well what do you mean by ok?

I don't agree with it, but I'm not willing to drop a trillion dollars and spill a lot of America blood over it. Nor am I willing to go to WW3 or risk a nuclear war over it. Nations have risen and fallen since man has existed and Ukraine is one of the most corrupt and fake "democracies" in the world.

So you are okay with the takeover by force. You are willing to stand by the sidelines and let it happen with zero response. Sounds fun.

How about Lithuania?

(quick second and third question --- how much American blood has been spilled in Ukraine? Has WW3 started? I cant find a mention of that issue of WW3 being an ogoing issue anywhere. Just trying to separate rhetoric from fact, here....)

So you can't see the huge potential for any of that happening, got it, you're myopic.

There is absolutely the potential. Im just not peeing in my knickers over it.

The tards have their hive mind orders. Its slavi tard Ukraine week.

Dammit

To hell with the damned Ukraine! The problem is here!

Our corporations make the war materials the Ukraine is using. They sell them to the Ukraine and bill the American People through the National Debt. Congress takes the PAC money, votes with their corporate benefactors, American's get stuck for it, Russians and Ukrainians die, and our corporations get rich off their war while the nation goes broke. The Damned problem is here! It's Corporate in nature. And our problem is graft and corruption in Government. And without PAC money the Ukranian war never happens, nor would a lot of other regional conflicts! The problem is here!

Exactly

I said this was a money grab day one. Shite happens all over this world daily and we immediately started pumping ukraine billions snd it just gets worse

The rest is irrelevant.

I achually have heard the low iq slavi tards say we need to defeat communist russia. We need 200 billion in remedial history classes

So the issue is that clear cut for you. You should go on tour with that. I'm not OK with any country infringing on the sovereignty of any other country but I'm even more not OK with sending billions and billions of taxpayer money to a corrupt regime. I'm certainly not OK with sending our young people over there to die, which could become a very real possibility.

Countries at war in Africa do well without our assistance. Other conflicts around the globe iron themselves out without our assistance. We are not and should not be relied on to be the worlds police.

I'll ask again, where does our national interest in all this lie?

Answered already.

Is the potential different from when the Russians supplied N Korea with weapons and ammunition that was then used to kill our troops? Is the potential different from when the Russians supplied N Vietnam with weapons and ammunition that was then used to kill our troops? Is the potential different from when the the US supplied Afghanistan with weapons and ammunition that was then used to kill Russian troops? How is it different?

The answer is its not different. There is a reason we never did anything about the Russian supplies in Vietnam and Korea. There is a reason they never did anything about the American supplies in Afghanistan. Its a simple reason. Doing something about those weapons supplies would have made things worse---not better. That was true then and it is true now.

How bout we send the next 100 Billion dollars to securing our house? We’re being invaded, anyone who can’t see that is simply blind.

Pro-Tip: this isn’t “immigration”. Stop lying

This is protecting our own. And we are doing with Ukrainian lives, instead of our troops tangling with Russians in NATO countries like Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and maybe even Hungary and Poland.

Have none of y'all ever heard of Neville Chamberlin? Munich?

What is our national interest in all this? This will end up with Americans dying for a country that is as corrupt as any African warlord's turf, or maybe the better comparison is our own United States.

Not capable of reading before responding? Did you even read the first paragraph?

Damn, someone pissed in your corn flakes apparently. I'm supposed to take a 5 word sentence as an explanation of why we should have an interest in propping up another corrupt government? How is this protecting our own? We don't even have a formal alliance with Ukraine of which I'm aware, we have some trade agreements. They are not a NATO member so again, where is OUR national interest in sending Ukraine billions to fight a nuclear armed superpower, an action that superpower views as hostile action against them.

Will you support American troops fighting in Europe for Ukraine should that possibility actually materialize? As it stands have we seen action against any NATO countries? You know, the ones we actually treat with?

Yes.

Long before this came up I had the same opinion I have now. I based my opinion on the United States of America. If we had an economic disaster that shattered our country and left it in shambles, the very moment the central goverment could, they would retake territory... If California said no thanks, we are going to remain independent, they would be retaken. If Texas said hell no, we are Texas, they would be retaken. I have always expected at some point Russia (the motherland) would try to retake territory they lost in the fracture and I always said when they do... that is between them. Same as it would be between us if the USA splintered.

And if we found ourselves in need of assistance I wonder how many of those eastern bloc nations would come to our own aid.

So you're one of those who gets so close to the edge of a chasm that when he falls in the surprised look on your face is priceless. Stay the hell out of it and there is NO potential. I don't care about the politics of this, I don't care which side supports it or doesn't. I care about the fact that the money we've spent over there is money not being spent to to help Americans who are hurting. Our infrastructure is crumbling down around us and we're sending money to a freakin dictator who lives better than any of us because of it.

Our involvement there, as has been stated, is not out of some moral obligation, it's financial. Too many people are enriching themselves at the trough of the MIC and some here seem fine with it.

0.00

The only nation ever to come to our aid was France, and then the damned Frogs made sure to wait until they were certain we had the British bottled up at Yorktown and then their butts finally showed up to help keep the British at bay and Cornwallis defeated. You know, they wanted to spike the football after playing 1 series of downs at the end of the 4th quarter!

Nobody else has come to our aid, but we have bled for a large portion of those under tyranny around the globe.

Sadly, our arms industry never wanted to give up WWII profits. The Sherman Anti-Trust Act had been suspended for the prosecution of the war and so they continued to manufacture national threats to keep their status growing until they through the Federal Reserve could run us, lobby for favors, and then the gift of PAC money allowed them to buy our government and bill us for their excesses. If the French and English had realized that potential in the 1700's our revolution would still be going, and they would be soaking their realms to profit by constantly paying us to fight each other or neighbors.

If we could only look at it from that perspective, it would change the attitudes on both sides of the aisle.

Eisenhower was asked if he feared the global spread of Communism and the Cold War. He responded that he only feared the rise of the military industrial complex. Was anyone listening? No. Three years later JFK is dead. He was going to back out of Viet Nam and RFK wanted to kill the Federal Reserve. It's all linked and always has been.

Pogo is apt again, "I have met the enemy and he is US".

The last part of #39 appears naïve as hell and the entirety of #45 seems like a revenge statement. They did it to us so now we can stick it to them! And it will only cost us billions and billions.

Maybe you don't get out much and don't see THIS country in dire straits. There are mentally ill homeless people in ever increasing numbers living under bridges that could collapse at any time over roads that aren't fit to drive a tank over in many cities across this country.

But let's keep sending aid by the pallet loads to Ukraine!

They already did. There was a coalition of nations that fought with the US in both Iraq and Afghanistan after 911. In fact, Ukraine was part of that coalition and sent actual fighting troops---not just supplies.

Post 45, last part of post 39.

The last part of #39 appears naïve as hell and the entirety of #45 seems like a revenge statement. They did it to us so now we can stick it to them!

Far from it. A rational diagnosis of the pros and cons. Nothing more, nothing less. But leave it up to you to try and read something more into that somewhat stark analysis.

Quote: And it will only cost us billions and billions.

It could. And in my mind, an investment worth it. If we can take Russia off the 'lets just expand by invading our neighbors' stage for a generation or more -- yeah. Where do I sign up?

Again, if Putin gets deposed, I would very much reconsider supporting the strategy above -- dependent on who/what replaces the Putin regime, and if that succeeding regime decided to end the aggression.

Quote:Maybe you don't get out much and don't see THIS country in dire straits. There are mentally ill homeless people in ever increasing numbers living under bridges that could collapse at any time over roads that aren't fit to drive a tank over in many cities across this country.

Actually I do. I actually think we should do more for that situation. No doubt. Backing off a once in a lifetime opportunity to defang a perennial world problem maker *when* they try a bigger bite than they should --- Im not on that bandwagon that you subscribe to.

Quote:But let's keep sending aid by the pallet loads to Ukraine!

Again, I have zero problem with more indirect action. To be frank, if the issue became sending Western troops themselves into the fracas, I just might join you at that point.

By sending pallet loads of of military aid --- yep, all for it. And for 'offsite training' as well.

Wait? What? You mean none of these guys would love the smell of Napalm in the morning? What's happened to the American male? Oh I know, his kindergarten teacher told him he may not be a boy.

My point? The words of teachers are more deadly than gelatin gasoline when lit. Why parents are not sporting pitchforks and tar and feathers over this tells me we are toast!

Odd---once you eliminate the wheat from the chaff of these Putin propaganda arguments---there's not much left but sound bite slogans. You dont think we have any interests there? Fine. The majority apparently can see what you cannot. We have article 5 responsibilities there with NATO and we dont want the Russians thinking that taking the Balkans will be as easy as taking Crimea and the Donbas in 2014 (they just walked in and took it----the Ukrainian military was incapable stopping them in 2014). There was really very little blow back from that 2014 invasion (another mistake by Obama). This time the Russians fooled around and found out. This is just a dose of what a Baltics invasion would look like---except the West has a massive highly competent air force to add to the battle mix.

The lesson has been administered. I dont think the Russians are all that excited about a Baltics invasion any longer. On the other hand, had we done nothing and just cowered in fear like we did in 2014----allowing the Russians to take Ukraine in just a few weeks---or even a few months---would Russia still think a quick jaunt into the Baltics seems like a bad idea? Probably not. Furthermore----the Chinese are watching. Had we done nothing and Russia enjoyed a quick and decisive victory---do you think a Taiwanese invasion would be more or less likely? Any idea where most of the high end chips we use for many of our military's most complex toys come from?

There is one more reason we are aiding Ukraine.

Restricting ourselves to matters of just the western hemisphere is a viable future option for us. Im not totally opposed to that. But, make no mistake---the reason we are the worlds reserve currency is because the US military enforces the American Rules Based Order for the entire world. The moment we arent doing that anymore, then someone else will fill that power vacuum----and that "someone" will likely become the provider of the world's new reserve currency.

There is a lot of simple boiled down truth in what you say. I'm not sure however that the complexities would lend the same conclusions. In reality it all comes down to motives.

I'm curious to know who the real paper tigers are. Russia is like a wounded copperhead. It still has enough nuclear venom to kill you. Same with U.S. only we rattle. The real question is what kind of snake China is. They act like a hooded Cobra, but they do a lot of rattling too. They might be a puff adder, all bluster, or they might be a Taipan. We won't know until they face off in one of these regional conflicts and so far, they've been smart enough not to show what they have or don't have. But they sure as hell have been stealing our designs.

I don't like the Ukraine because it has Biden kickbacks written all over it! Nothing pisses me off more than a sucker punch and I feel like that is what has been done to the American people on this one.

I agree that Putin will rethink a great deal after this. But that as the Zen master says, "We'll see. Could be bad, could be good."

I know this: China is selling the chemicals necessary for fentanyl to those importing it into our country and killing our children. China has carcinogenic products coming into this country whether for baby supplies, foods, medicines, or just junk products. They steal our patents, our designs for weapons systems, and hack our financial institutions and constantly probe our infrastructure for weaknesses. These are all preliminary to a war. Have you considered that the Ukraine situation was exactly developed through Chinese subterfuge simply to evaluate our response so that they can better prepare for it should they make good their threat against Taiwan?

I'll worry about Putin and Nato a bit more when the Dragon starts acting like a trading partner and less like a military planning a first strike.
