I can't get worked up over this, even if the situation were reversed . Female College BB players cold-cocked each other in games. Too many testosterone supplements I reckon. what did the 'victim' say to get punched...?

Nice to poo poo on Memphis, but down at Alabama, they're playing their star player who was an accessory to murder. And I believe the Georgia player got off who was driving in access of 100 MPH and wrecked and killed a female passenger.
And I'm pretty sure there has been several murders at Baylor, so this sheet goes on everywhere.
I hate it for Jemirah, she's a good player who lost her cool.
My degree is not from Alabama & I don’t live in Waco.
When these situations happen at & in Memphis, the national response is “typical” & it’s a knock on all of us. I’m sorry, but it is what it is.
Cheap shotting someone in the handshake line is about the worst level of sportsmanship imaginable.
Wrong is wrong... but it's the reaction. Folks want to label her a thug with a rap sheet. Come on man... so 1960ish.
SEC women's tournament this year had 8 players ejected for fighting. Don't hear many folks calling for them to be arrested and using racist terms like 'rap sheet'.
What would you call it? It certainly didn’t seem like a “heat of the moment” punch, which happens sometimes in sports. This happened 3 quarters after taking an elbow and appeared to be planned, which is why there’s a police report filed. I’m sorry, but its not 1960-ish to expect student athletes to not cheap shot each other in the hand shake line. Is basic civility asking too much? Is it 1960-ish?
you're acting like a drama queen. I'd love a perfect world, Marc but it ain't going to happen. She was wrong for hitting her, but it is not the end of the world. Good lort.
These things happen all the time. BTW - you're not the detective, so stop saying it was planned. YOU WERE NOT THERE.

Not the first time for Brittney. TMZ has a 911 call where she was brawling with her fiancé.

She is an anomaly for sure. Baylor College loved their Brittney.
I still marvel at the unusual deep sound of her voice.
First time I heard her, I thought she had to be a male...i mean her voice was more male than most males. . lol
ok ok so I broke a lot of societal rules there, but the drama queens here like to be stoked.
And I'm not saying people should hit/choke/ bite or shoot each other when they get crazy mad... I still wonder what the other player said to our player--not that that justifies any violence.
The only punch I ever liked was Outing. After that dumb lil BYU player, Nacua, ran around sucker punching our players on National TEE VEE. I think they sent Nacua on a mission after that.
Do y'all honestly think that Bama's Miller (who brought the gun to his friend that killed a young woman) should be playing in the NCAA tournament...? smh. Will that go on his 'rap sheet'. lol
There is no evenness in how justice is administered. 'Liberty and Justice' for all is just a dream some of us had.
shrug --she steps off her soapbox.

This is a national story & an absolutely terrible look for the school that unfortunately reinforces a narrative. Has the university issued a response?

I see a difference in “in games” and “post-game handshake line”. The latter is something new to me, but I don’t watch much womens basketball.

This story goes away after today and nobody on a national level ever thinks of this or references it again.
It was stupid. She will be punished and the incident will be forgotten in a few hours. There is no reason to blow this up beyond what it is.
Go pull up clips of basketball and you can find probably 100 incidents of players cheap shotting someone who isnt expecting it. Again, it is not excusable or okay but to act like this is some unprecedented event is silly.

who said they were the same. ..it was truly dumb on her part.
But the main reason this will fall away as a nothing and be unnoticed, except by people who love to badmouth Memphis (along with those who have inferiority complexes about Memphis), is because it is not a money making sport. duh
Just in general, BB is not the big money making sport. Women's BB is ho hum. It is not a money making sport--in college, or in the pros.
NOw if this woman had furnished a gun to kill someone, that would be 1000 times horrible.

Really disappointed that both basketball teams lost composure in their last games. Didn't we just hire a sports psychologist?
This continues to paint Memphis in a bad light and reinforces many people's beliefs about our city/university.
i don't see the SEC trying to kick Alabama or Georgia out of the SEC. We will survive, trust me.

I’m not really thinking about all of that. It’s just something I’ve never seen before. Maybe this happens all the time in womens sports.
The whatabout bama, baylor, etc crowd can have at it.

All of that may be true but it is irrelevant to the situation.
The issue is how the incident reflects on the U of Memphis.
What happened elsewhere doesn't change how this incident reflects on the U of Memphis.
True or not we've had a thug image for years in the eyes of the rest of the company and this only reinforces that image.

The female that was driving the car in Athens was intoxicated and driving over 100 miles an hour. She lost control of the vehicle which killed a GA player and herself. Two others in the vehicle sustained injuries.
