I think Hensley saw the floor with under a minute left yesterday.

I'm actually wondering now if Josh Reed will be back next year. Unless I've missed it, he's not been in the rotation of late and UC is down two guards to injury. I'm not wishing that, just wondering. And I've wondered if Sage will be allowed to claim a redshirt year given that he's anchored to the bench.

This offseason may hold surprises we just can't anticipate in this Brave New World of the portal.

He was mulling around a redshirt at the beginning of the year and only got run out in a few games because of the injury situation. I don't think he had any false illusions thay he'd be getting tons of minutes this season...unlike the fanbase.

next year's team needs a serious upgrade in big men. Hoping somewhere there is a couple of big men wanting to come here. We are in good shape with guards.

Nolley averaged 16.6 pts on 45% shooting, 42% from three and added almost 6 rebounds a game. I'll take him back in a heartbeat. He has been fantastic for UC this year.

Even his advanced stats show it. True shooting % second only to Victor. PER second only to Victor. And for those who say his defense hurts us his Defensive Win Shares are tied for best on the team and his Defensive Rating % is right about average for the team.

If both Dejulius and Nolley are gone I have severe concerns about our ability to score next year.

To add onto this, Nolley is one of the best passers, if not THE best passer on the team (at the very least, I think he has some of the best vision on the team). He's third in both assists per game and assist rate, behind DDJ and MAW so the kid actively tries to make players around him better.

I get that his demeanor and facial expressions might give off the impression that he has a "me me me" and "I'm too cool for this" attitude but his interactions with his teammates and the media as well as how other players and the coaches speak of him clearly paint a different picture. My belief is that he loves this team, he loves playing here, and I would be ecstatic if he came back from another year.

I agree. He is so unselfish, and people say he is a “me” guy lol. Several times I have seen him make an outstanding shot, and next possession he has a good shot, but passes it up for an even better shot or an equal shot. I am sure his teammates do not consider him selfish. If anything he doesn’t shoot enough. Many games I wish he would shoot 2-3 more times per half.

No disrespect for a local kid who dreamed of being a Bearcat and had a great attitude and played hard but I wasn't hoping we were going to get an extra year of the JD experience. Hopefully he finds a great opportunity to finish his career somewhere.

Watch him go somewhere and have a 40% 3PG next year03-lmfao
That seems to be our luck.

For the best of all involved. He's just not a 4.

Had he played his career against small conference competition as a bigger 3 they would have built a statue of him on campus.

He's a 35% career shooter on bad teams shooting a high volume. Wouldn't be a surprise on a more stable situation. Genuinely wish him the best though; I hope he shoots 45% on 5 attempts a game as long as he's not playing against us.

Probably across town... and against UC. 03-banghead

Seriously, I wish him well and his energy and passion were fun to watch during some difficult years for Bearcat basketball.

I'm thinking Wright State where he originally was heading.

I could see JD being very effective in the right role and conference. My guess is he ends up in the MAC, AAC, OVC, or MVC

This is the most promising news I've heard about UC basketball in a while. Shows the staff knew this roster wasn't ready for prime time. With Ody back if JD returned too, no 4 worth a dang was going to give us the time of day.

If John Brannen is still at Dayton, I'd throw them in the mix as well.

Not a portal situation, but possible coaching turnover...

Adams is almost assuredly the backfill there if it happens.

Landers is officially staying in the draft. Good for him. If he wants to play professionally it's time. Selfishly I wanted him back, but I'm confident it's the right decision for Landers at this point.

Yeah, I expected it as well, though I am surprised he made the decision so quickly. He had no reason to come back.

I wanted him back, but I'm not as unhappy with losing him as some are. With Nolley gone, I'd argue that our three worse defensive players from last year (Nolley, Davenport, DDJ in that order) are now gone. Our offense will need to find guys to compensate, but our defense, rebounding and effort (and maybe the culture around those) should trend in the right direction.
