I had to miss a decent chunk, but from what I saw he didn't seem any less aggressive than usual or anything. Dukes were all struggling from three point land for a while, early on I was saying I wonder if it was a little tough to adjust to shooting in such a different arena. Plus the fact he went 3-4 against GS and his minutes were ramped up a bit closer to normal for him today. I'm thinking just an off day.

Big game Thursday vs ODU. Should be a great atmosphere and the team deserves the support.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this on the thread but Byington’s post game and the broadcast announcers said the team bus broke down on the way to the arena so they had to scramble and get Ubers for everyone.

He doesn’t look like he is hurt and I’d imagine with a shoulder you either play or don’t play, no in between like has been the case for Sule. Morse isn’t wearing a harness which tells me the injury at ODU wasn’t as severe as it looked. He actually got hit in the same shoulder coming off of a screen yesterday and didn’t flinch so I have to believe he is good to go.

In an interesting note, In the postgame 2 games ago Riggert asked about Morse’s health and why he only played 12 minutes and Byington quickly said he wasn’t answering that question.

He played 16 minutes last night.

I like the limited minutes because he can’t shoot the team out of a game like he is prone to do.

Speaking of Byington press conferences, why isn't there a weekly show any longer? Did the sponsoring restaurant go out of business? It just seems more big-time to have a weekly press conference show.

Maybe the travel schedule makes it harder some weeks.

RE: MBB at Coastal
a loss yesterday would have been devastating. that win may have saved our season.

ODU is a must win. knocks odu out of 4th contention - a win in the final 3 would put us in a decent place for at least 4th.

Troy (we hold TB) is slyly in contention for 4th and has @ArkSt, @Marshal @ LaMonroe, Coastal home - 2-2?

I had forgotten that Byington’s contract gives him a $10,000 bonus for finishing top 3 in the league. Gotta beat ODU to nearly cinch a top 4 finish, but gotta beat Marshall to get the cash.

All 4 games at home is the sweet ending we’ve been waiting for. And it looks like JMU is giving away ODU tickets for $7 for Thursday’s game. What can you buy for $7 anymore?
Should be a bigger crowd and it will be needed against an ODU team desperate for a win to remain in contention for the double bye. It will get feisty for sure so keep your eye on Derricko Williams and Jason Wade AKA the goon duo. Refs had to talk to Williams the last game after multiple off-ball fouls when he was giving forearm shivers trying to instigate.

Seemed interesting that both teams had their poor shooting half to the same hoop. In an older arena, lighting or just orientation could be different from one end to the other. Stuff like this sometimes gives the home team a real advantage - they are used to the differences and practice there more. Kind of like knowing how to play the carom in an irregular outfield.

Shane Mettlen tweeted this after the last ODU game:
Wade's attempted 19 shots all season. His entire job is to come in and get physical with smaller guards. He fouled Vado Morse at 9:00, not a dirty play, but trying to body up on him, and knocks him out of the game with a shoulder injury.
Pretty clear he's like a hockey goon. Seems like a wasted scholarship to me.

He used to be a decent scrappy player but has blown out his knees and I think has missed 2 or 3 full seasons.

This is nothing new with Jeff Jones coached teams. He likes to play a very physical, goonish style and ugly the game up. Just how he has coached for a long time now. You know exactly what you are gonna get when you play a Jeff Jones coached team.....win or lose....it ain't gonna be a pretty, finesse basketball game.

He (Wade) was one of our best players two years ago and he suffered a ACL injury and an Achilles injury and still found a way to come play. The fact he's playing at all is a miracle. He's certainly not a "goon".
