“Ihenache” with two big three’s, if he can develop a more consistent three ball, he could be a real threat for us in the future!

Dukes on a 15-2 run, now up 68-61 with 1:18 left. Finally playing some inspired ball.

Dukes win 73-66. We sure seemed motivated those last 4 minutes. Plus, I think Coastal really ran out of gas with all the hectic play.

RE: MBB at Coastal
This was a “no blood, no foul” game and the Dukes pulled out an ugly win, but that is much better than a pretty loss.

We saw a return of the full court press in the 2nd half. Interesting. It had been scrapped for weeks.

No style points, yet the team just finished 3-1 on a 4 game road trip and I think any coach would take that happily.

4 straight home games to finish the season so JMU should be able to finish in the top 4 and maybe slide into 3rd or even 2nd.
Home cookin’ here we come.

Yes, CC ran out of gas, and the refs couldn’t figure out how to give them a 6 or 7 point play.

MBB at Coastal
That was frustrating to watch but the Dukes hung in and rallied back for the win. And they covered for anyone who pays attention to those things things. Go Dukes!

i had heard that Coach By can rub some refs the wrong way. It certainly seemed that way. Not reviewing that shot clock violation was pure petulance . There is absolutely no excuse for that. You can't do your job as a ref if you are that petty. Quit collecting paychecks if you are not going to do your job. Whoever that crew leader is should be fired.

Agree. I would think that the entire sequence should be reported to the league office. It appeared to be a shot-clock violation to me, but even if the ref’s didn’t overturn the call on the floor (after review), they should have reviewed the play. Inexcusable.

I’m with Hart, 3-1 on the road trip is not whistling Dixie. This keeps us out of the fifth place logjam for the time being.

Agree 100%. Announcers were saying that JMU bench had been given warnings. And then the shot clock fiasco where the Coastal guy clearly shot after the buzzer and yet the basket was counted without review.
I never really consider Mark Byington to be be too hard on the refs. Certainly not to the level of Bob Thuggins. But it felt like the refs swallowed their whistles in relation towards us.

RE: MBB at Coastal
now that i am living in SC, got to see the Dukes in person today. Here are my observations

1. Defense was awful until last 7 minutes
2. Couldn't keep coastal guards out of lane for first 33 minutes, once they did, defense improved tremendously
3. Coastal was terrible in 2nd half
4. Byington very active on bench and was on refs most of game, as he should be. Refs were bad.
5. Great road win, outscored CC by 17 in second half

GO DUKES

Down goes Louisiana! Win out and we'll take #2 at worst. Louisiana and Marshall each one game ahead and we can take head to head with both.

RE: MBB at Coastal
Sometimes feels like JMU is the Goliath in all of our SBC events. As if, we wanted you to come an play - but it is not fair for you to win so much in the first 3 years.

Not reviewing calls - is past bad officiating. Our gameplan is very aggressive and we often have more fouls than our appointments.

I am looking forward to a neutral court SBC tourney to see how they call it. In general, this is a small conference - but it feels like big's get lattitude to impose their will.

I feel like we can drive inside at will and force fouls. Also, I think we can press more - even with our injuries, this team is deeper than most. We're likely saving this effort for the conference and post season tourney(s).

I couldn’t watch the game unfortunately but checked the box score. Does Vado seem hurt still or just an off night? I know posters have differing opinions on him but I hope that he’s back to 100% for the conference tournament.
