That said, Prater was possibly a dropped pretty much perfectly thrown pass away from continuing/completing a game winning drive in about as high pressure a first start as can be imagined.

I still feel that both BB and EP were victimized by an OC and game plan that did not optimize the skills of either QB and of course the oft mentioned porous O Line. IMO BB was more handicapped than EP as the team and playbook seemed built more for a mobile QB (ala Des) and Gino seemed determined to fit BB into that mold.

BB was pretty clearly the more polished of the 2 QBs, and IMO Prater was the more athletic. I don't think EP "cost UC the Tulane game" but he could have played better with some help. My hope is that CSS brings in a QB1 that fits his system or is willing/able to adapt to the personnel he inherits until he can get the skillset he wants for his system

Ben was 26/43 for 325 yards and 2 TDs against Arkansas. He had some overthrows and a pick six, but it was pretty big difference between the Tulane game. Plus Tulane was at home, not on the road.

I seem to recall some bad drops by the WR’s at Arkansas too.

UC fans do need to stop booing. It’s embarrassing this isn’t professional sports although it’s getting closer. 9 win season and people were acting like Ben was worst QB ever every game. It was a joke.

Prater had an opportunity in summer camp, against Tulane, and against Louisville (sure not fair but neither was it for Louisville’s backup). He flopped every opportunity and it was quite clear Ben was the better QB.

I’m pretty certain Emory Jones will lock up this job quickly after watching a couple vids. Has all the tools. Competed well against an Alabama team both with his arm and legs. If Prater stays and beats him out cool but from what I saw Emory is a better athlete with a better frame but first and foremost a QB first with a heck of an arm.

Please explain in detail how Prater "flopped" against Tulane.

Sure.

10 of 26 for 102 yards and 3.9 yards passing average with no touchdowns and 1 interception. 35.7 QBR

Had the most carries on the team at 19 with the worst average of yards per carry. Tulane only had one sack so dont blame the YPC average on that. No touchdowns.

If you just want an athlete that isn’t a QB Prater is your guy I guess but that won’t win you many games unless it’s Mike Vick level athlete and even he had a rocket arm in college.

Praters offer list is very suspect to his 4 star rating. Dominating Indian Hill type of schools in high school does nothing for me.

It’s not like he was Emory Jones type of 4 star that had Bama, Ohio State, Florida, Georgia etc. offers like many seem to act like it was Miami Fl, Mich St, Okie State type of schools. Also, posters and analyst I respect both on this board and 247 noted the horrible throwing mechanics and those have barely improved. I’m not going to hammer a Bearcat any further in here and maybe he fixes some items that makes him a more dangerous passer. We’ll see.

Yet with six minutes left in the game inexplicably we were up 24-21.

Even after the defense blew that lead, he drilled Tyler Scott right in the chest with what would have the game winning TD but I guess his lack of throwing mechanics caused him to drop it.

But yeah, it was all on Prater.

Wait, fans shouldn't boo anymore? It should just be turning to the person to your left or to your right and fuss amongst yourselves? Just cheer and everything will be alright? Take some sensitivity training before coming to the game? Give me a break! If I'm a paying customer I can boo or cheer whenever I want. Grow some thick ass skin as a coach or player. Now, chanting obscenities or some other obnoxious words at someone is crossing the line. Fick was asked postgame about the booing of Ben and he said fans were doing it because they care [about winning]. Part of the home win streak that UC football enjoyed was due to a packed house of rabid fans supporting their program. You can't ask them to show up en masse and then expect them to not be passionate good or bad. If I was booing this year it would've been aimed at the staff - especially the the two assistants calling plays and dumbing down are offensive line.

1) Tulane was at home
2) I just said Prater flopped in the game not cost us the game. He showed little QB skills.
3) Just the F bombs and Booing followed by cheering like we just beat Houston to go to the Playoffs is all I’m saying is uncalled for
4) Satt already found that guy in Emory Jones. Fits his system perfect. Do I think he’ll be the next Hendon Hooker? Heck na. We at moment don’t have a O tackles or playmakers at WR to even try to make such a comparison, but I do think he gives us a chance to get us at least where I want the team at minimum next season which is over .500 in conference play and a bowl game.

I’m ok with “situational” booing, but I think it went too far with Ben. Dude got boo’d and f-bombed in every home game. Heck, there were people in my section who raised a stink in the first half of the IU game when he was putting on a record performance for a half (granted that second half was rough).

Oh I love booing refs. When it gets to the point where current and former players don’t feel the fans have one of their guys back and are calling out the fanbase its overblown.

To UC1992 I told the two obnoxious drunk wannabe NFL mid aged losers to sit down and shut the F up multiple times throughout the season in which case many in my section also stood against the nonsense. They of course did each time as Prater flopped in every opportunity up to this point whether it be summer camp, ECU plays, Tulane, Louisville, etc.

Anywho, like I said just my two sense. If y’all wanna act like the Dbag Buckeye and Wildcat fans feel free you bought the ticket.

It’s 99% Emory Jones time barring injury! Go Bearcats!

I don't support cursing at someone or acting like a drunk buffoon. In general, fans should be allowed to cheer or boo to express themselves. This isn't grade school pee wee football. These are grown men coaching and playing a sport. The coaches make big bucks and leave us in the rearview mirror for another program whether we boo or not. Players can transfer in/out and make money in NIL. Sorry, I don't have empathy to regulate booing from folks spending their hard earned money and time watching men tackle each other on a field.

My example was for two specific fans in my section. The families with kids thanked me and finally some others finally started telling them to quiet on the F you Ben and boos every series Ben didn’t make a score.

In regards to the general fanbase over the past year in respect to one QB over the other and just not rooting for both when either or are playing so UC can win the game…Your you and I’m me 04-cheers

I’ll confess: I booed. It was more about the quality of play and not a specific person. But on the field, they don’t know that I’m booing because I’m disgruntled about the coaching.

Chanting, “We want Prater,” while Bryant was on the field was cringe worthy. The student section made its position loud and clear.

That was all Coach Fickell's fault. it was obvious all year long that Bryant was a fair QB at best, especially behind that offensive line. If Coach would have ever bothered to work in Prater late in some game, the fans would have seen what we later saw in the Tulane game. That would have ended the most of the chanting for Prater to come in.

Truth be told...I'd rather move on from both Ben and Prater. One can't athletically run and one can't accurately pass a spiral. Better to have someone that can do both with our current roster. We have at least five QB's currently on the roster. I can't believe anyone can beat Jones as the starter. No way all of these guys will be here going into the spring.

Bryant
Prater
Lichtenberg
Jones
Drogosh

Jones has transfered from 2 schools after losing his job as a starter two years in a row so I'm not sure he's the guy to push all the chips into the center on just yet.

With the way the OL performed…no seasoned receivers and lack of playing time…Praeter didn’t have a chance..

He had every opportunity to beat out BB in camp. Didn't do it. No different than BB couldn't beat out Ridder. If the OL is bad then why didn't Prater use his legs as so many have said was a strength? Dude throws a wobbler ball and can't make a deep throw. He's cooked. He's done. Move on.

BB couldn't beat out Ridder and he went to Eastern Michigan. Jones played in the SEC and the P12. What QB do we have that can say that? We are taking a step up in conference play next season. IMO Jones has the edge but I agree that you don't hand someone the job - they earn it in camp. That said, he is the type of QB that CSS desires in his system.

True, but we don’t have much for him to beat out. Bryant and Prater are hard working guys but they are not high level QBs. Bryant’s lack of movement hurts him badly and Prater has been objectively terrible in his few performances. I would be stunned if Jones didn’t get the job.
