I think we should rescue WKU. Liberty can run roughshod over a bunch of FCS and get no credit, and we would have an insanely strong G5 conference.

I heard rumblings that they’re going to merge as one conference and that would make sense (helluva lot more than Austin Peay playing independent, which their AD stated they would consider in this article:

This is exactly the kind of s*** I was talking about in another thread.

We're about to have a football program whose all-time record is 300–551–16, make their way into the FBS.

Austin Peay has been in the FCS/1AA for about 45 years... and they've made it to the FCS playoffs ONE TIME in their history. But now they want to join the FBS... for what? To make it into the CFP? They know they'll never get there... they just want to join the club and sipher off money from the rest of us.

It's no wonder the P5 wants to break away from the G5... why would they want to split money with lousy programs like Austin Peay?

I would understand SFA or EKU but Austin Peay seems like such a stretch to me. Doubtful it actually happens.

Now that I think about it APSU also doesn’t make sense because they already have 6 teams in the East if they are going for 12. That’s why I think SFA + Tarleton State will be the 2 eventually added. SFA makes sense overall and Tarleton is throwing mad money into their football program with eyes on FBS obviously.

The ONLY legitimate FCS schools who could actually do something up here at the FBS level are

Montana
Montana State
North Dakota State
South Dakota State
Jackson State

And if Deion is leaving, no to Jackson State.

Really, the Montana's and Dakota's actually bring competitive football to the table.

Looks like the ASUN will collapse at this point. Poor UCA and EKU.

The only desirable schools left are ECU and Memphis. No to the rest. UAB and Tulane are about to slide back to the norm as losing programs for the next 20 years. LT is dead...might as well be FCS now.

They've been humbled considerably since then. Were about to escape to the MAC in a panic. The reality of the AAC and upward mobility (p5) is closed to them forever. Tactically, their dept. is good in most sports and is one of CUSA's last legs. Taking them would be a CUSA coup de grace, improves basketball and football further, gives us more media inventory, and is generally another quality program. They had two different QBs start games in the NFL this year.

They can't buy a fanbase though. Got a patchworked 24k stadium and that sat empty most of the season.
