I guess it helped that there was a Big East rep (Marquette) on the Committee.

Colorado 44 in latest RPI. SFA is 54 - wonder if that's one of the toughest 1st round games for anyone. Baylor can't be happy either.

We got robbed. This is what happens when you have the Big East represented on the Committee, but not CUSA. Both Creighton and Marquette? Seriously? Even worse, Penn State gets in over us. How exactly? And to make matters even worse, they pair us with Baylor, who was the only team who trounced us this year.

How can they say Marquette gets in because of RPI, but Rice (who happens to be a conference champ, which is a criteria) gets bumped by two squads below it in RPI (Baylor, Penn State)?

Do tell-- why wouldn't Baylor be happy? SFA had a down year, and Baylor absolutely blew us out in every facet of the game...and this time their at home.

Marquette was just one slot above us in RPI, but we had one more win vs. Top 25 and Top 50 (we were 3-3/4-3; they were 2-3, 3-3)...and, most importantly, we won the conference championship; they didn't, having lost 2 of 3 to Creighton, whom we beat in head-to-head.

I'm dying to hear their justification for picking Marquette over Rice.

Baylor was expecting to host. They have the toughest 2 seed of any 1 seed, and probably the toughest 4 seed (in terms of RPI).

Why would they be happy about that?

How does Tudor compare to the facilities of the other hosts?

Baylor IS hosting. We're in their bracket. And how is a #54 RPI team one of the toughest to face a host school? PLESASE. They and Penn State were the last two host seeds-- what exactly did they expect if they were picked as one of the final two hosts?

That is not one of the 12 criteria used by the Selection Committee.

Creighton probably got consideration since the Final Four will be in Omaha.

No bones to pick with Creighton getting in since the had the #13 RPI and were conference champs, but Marquette over us? How and why? Based on what criteria other than the fact that the Committee had a Big East rep. You'd think that us beating Creighton would have given us some additional weight.

No way to sugar coat this one. 100% travesty.

Hope we get some backup on this from the national volleyball media.

Big East is a stronger conference. 4 teams top 100 in RPI vs. 3 for C-USA. Very close resumes IMO.

I know Penn State has some good wins but they also had losses to non-tournament teams.

Some other things that look suspicious. Tennessee got in...guess what? Tennessee is the SEC rep on the committee.
Ball State got in....guess what? MAC has a rep on the committee (Bowling Green).

PLEASE! SoS is reflected in RPI. We do have the better record vs. Top25/50, but if you want to dismiss that, then go to what should have been the two tie-breakers: (1) We were conference champs; Marquette was not and (2) we beat Creighton in head-to-head; Marquette lost 2 of 3. Again, if you go by the set of criteria the Committee is tasked with, how does Marquette get the nod over Rice?

LSU got in, as well, as they were clearly on the bubble (if that).

I’m not saying that it was a clear cut decision. I’m just trying to find possible justifications.

Again, where's the justification? The fact that the Big East might be slightly stronger than CUSA is reflected in RPI...and let's face it, both conferences stink outside of the two perennial powers. Every other criteria and tie-breaker swings in Rice's favor. Every single one. The only possible explanation is the Big East having a rep on the Committee and CUSA does not.
