Which one? I'm trying not to read too much in to this question and missing the response I gave that answered the question that you quote below...
Quote:The movies talk about it on the two levels... one is 'attitude' meaning (said simply) how you dress or speak or what music you listen to... which is what i think you're referring to... and the other is about 'not mixing races'.
So this is both
Quote:My experience is different than yours in that I see less of "this guy isn't really black" than I saw back in the day.
That's not at all what I said. What I said is that I see more of the 'keep the race pure' (paraphrasing) than I did back in the day. The comments you speak of (outside of my joke about Biden) aren't really pertinent.
Quote:Quote:In the best example, a radio station can't be a race.
Yes... but it seems clear that in this instance Chuck D is calling out the owners and DJs (who do have a race) at the black radio stations.
For their 'attitude' as I mentioned earlier and not their 'racial purity'. Like Biden, he's suggesting that you're not black if you don't like my music... which is entirely different from saying... you're not black if your great grandfather was white.
I'm trying not to speak for these groups as I do not know them well... but to be obious, I'll paraphrase (because I'm not going to search for it) a TikTok I saw... A black college girl was asked if she preferred black or white men... to which she responded that she didn't like it when black men dated white women as it diluted their culture... and she only wanted to date dark skinned pure black men. That is certainly her right to have a preference, but it DID make me wonder what the reaction would be had that been a white person saying it. I know plenty of Jewish and Asian moms who would STRONGLY prefer that their kids date within their race/culture... and that's been the case for a long time... but I don't really recall (and yes, maybe it was just my experience/those I was around) a lot of black people suggesting that they wanted to only date within the black race. La Raza (Hispanics) may be similar, IDK, so I won't speak to that.
Either way, as I said... the 'growing trend' which you seem to be focused on isn't at all important to what I'm discussing. I'm discussing more the idea that had a white person said it, it would be racist... so why can a black person do so and it isn't? That seems highly related to the discussion we're having here on having seperate meetings for different races.... OUT OF SAFETY CONCERNS (as stated in the article).
