RE: Can we all have a moment and
Rumors of Miami’s return were greatly exaggerated.

What does it profit a program to hold a spot in the P2 and knock down 80M a year 'at the big boys table' if the revolving door can take half of last year's recruits to Coastal Carolina for a spot in this year's playoffs?
I’ve been trying to point this out. Unless they start playing with 33 guys on a side at a time, there’s no way you’re stockpiling and developing blue chip talent on the bench anymore. The GOAL is the NFL, not 40k for a season.
You do know what the response to this will be? A breakaway upper tier which plays in a closed system. The ADs at the P5 schools all know this. It's coming. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
I'm not saying it's right, just pointing out that brands maintained their status with roster depth and perks. Now that roster depth is challenged and perks can be had anywhere, they will protect brand with exposure at the highest level and limited access.
Consolidation is about limited access, not just expanded playoff slots. Networks like the predictable and guaranteed viewer numbers. The two go hand in hand.
Why? That’s not going to deter somebody to play there instead of a non-breakaway school for three seasons if they get the same money and maybe more attention.
The fact of the matter is the athletes look at college as a stepping stone, not a minor league system.
Any breakaway will include pay for play as well and yes, they will be seen more as a minor league, like the SEC already is viewed, only with a breakaway it will be formalized with the pay. SCOTUS could take us there within 2 years anyway.
It’s not minor leagues.. they can’t be called up and sent back down. There’s no way that happens because you would have the MLB and NBA stepping in to say “nah, bro. Ain’t happening.”
It’s a short ~3 seasons for the best talent, stepping stone preparatory system.

Did they make Bearcat Starter jackets? Or was that back when you guys got demoted to 1-AA? I didn’t think they made 1-AA Starter jackets.

Yeah, if only it was that easy. Gonna be a long climb ...
Also, why bother with the message board of a dying conference? Sounds like a miserable place :)
Go Canes!
This gives me new confidence! Zero of your predictions have come true!

Dunno who you're all talking about, the OG Miami just beat our first power conference opponent since 2003!
