REVEALED: Activist group suing DeSantis over Martha's Vineyard migrant flights backed by George Soros
Quote:Last week, Florida governor Ron DeSantis made headlines after sending two planes full of illegal migrants to Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts. In the days that followed, a class-action lawsuit was filed against DeSantis and Florida’s transportation department by activist group Allianza Americas and three of the migrants.
It has since been revealed that Allianza Americas received over $1.3 million in funding from George Soros’ Open Society Foundation over the past few years.
According to ZeroHedge, between 2016 and 2020 Allianza Americas obtained $1,383,947 in grants from Soros’ Open Society Institute, Open Society Policy Center and Foundation to Promote Open Society.
The money was intended to go towards advocating for immigration, and to give the organization the ability to do more work in Mexico and Central America.
Soros’ foundations have long supported left-wing causes, funding campaigns for lenient district attorneys, donating to groups that promote immigration, and so on.
Allianza Americas’ mission is to “enable and support organized immigrants to become effective transnational change agents toward a just, equitable and sustainable way of life for all people in the Americas.” The group has also expressed a desire to “transform our understanding of citizenship.”
The lawsuit against DeSantis was filed in federal trial court in Massachusetts, and alleged that the migrants boarded the plane "under false pretenses,” and that the action "also constituted intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress, false imprisonment and fraud.”
Allianza Americas argued that migrants "experienced cruelty akin to what they fled in their home country" during the events that led up to them being sent to Martha’s Vineyard.
They suggested that DeSantis and his transportation department "manipulated them, stripped them of their dignity, deprived them of their liberty, bodily autonomy, due process and equal protection under law, and impermissibly interfered with the Federal Government’s exclusive control over immigration in furtherance of an unlawful goal and a personal political agenda."
The migrants had been staying at a Texas migrant shelter when they were informed that they’d be flying to a northern city, whereupon they’d be taken care of. The lawsuit claimed it was only while in the air that they found out they were going to Martha’s Vineyard.
DeSantis’ office fired back against the allegations, providing documentation showing that the fifty migrants signed a voluntary agreement to be flown to the Massachusetts island.
The lawsuit from Allianza Americas was not the only one filed against DeSantis this week. According to Politico, on Thursday night, Florida Democrat Jason Pizzo asked a judge to block the governor from spending more money on the transport of migrants across state lines.

Eric Adams launches plan to pitch tents to house illegal migrants in NYC
Quote:New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced Thursday that the Big Apple is preparing to set up tents to house intake centers and cots for the waves of migrants pouring into the city, as the influx of southern border-crossers has overwhelmed its shelters.
The plan came as officials revealed that more than 2,000 additional migrants had streamed into the city over just the last week, reported New York Post. This brings the total number of new arrivals, mostly from Central America, to an estimated 13,600, the bulk of which — 10,300 — are staying in city shelters.
"More than 100 years ago, Ellis Island opened its doors to welcome in those 'yearning to breathe free,'" Adams said in a statement. "Now, more than ever, it’s clear that we are again dealing with a humanitarian crisis created by human hands."
The mayor then shamed other officials who have refused to do their supposed "moral duty" to make space for migrants, seemingly referring to Republican governors Greg Abbott and Ron DeSantis, who have been transporting illegal aliens to sanctuary jurisdictions including Washington, DC and Martha's Vineyard in addition to NYC.
"While other leaders have abdicated their moral duty to support arriving asylum seekers, New York City refuses to do so," he said.
"This is not an everyday homelessness crisis, but a humanitarian crisis that requires a different approach. That’s why the Humanitarian Emergency Response and Relief Centers will be the first touchpoint for asylum seekers that will provide them with a range of services and support as families determine their next steps," he added, referring to the upcoming tent structures.
The first of the emergency shelter facilities will reportedly consist of five tents set up in a parking lot at Orchard Beach in The Bronx, with enough cots to house up to 1,000 adults who will stay there for one to four days. During their temporary stay in the tents, the migrants will be assessed for health and welfare before being placed into the city's strained shelter system.
The announcement of the tent plan comes just days after Adams made a different controversial proposal; to possibly put migrants on cruise ships.

Using federal agencies against those that expose the outright hypocrisy of the left seems to be a thing for the Biden administration.

Yet another boomerang. It be much simpler if the admin would just admit their blatant hypocrisy. This will go nowhere. As usual.

Why? Political point being made or not.
These places (like MV or NYC) went out of their way to make sure they let everyone know they supported illegal migrants with their Sanctuary City designation.
These cities and towns on the border are not sanctuary cities, but are still forced to deal with this crush of people on a daily basis. The United States is a single country despite the fact that each state is a little different from each other, this is still a United States problem, not just a Texas or Arizona or NM or Florida problem. If you are a sanctuary city in this country it can be your problem too.
Cry me a river if you don't have the space, you don't seem to care that the border states and cities don't have the space either but they have to deal with it.
Seriously Tom - these places have asked for it and now they are getting it and they don't like it. How would you like to be El Paso (just to name one place) who doesn't have any choice? Put your politics aside for a second and ask yourself that question. Let's say your little township in Michigan was overrun by a few thousand illegal immigrants from Texas because your township declared itself a sanctuary city..... How are you going to feel about being sanctuary then?
This is actually not a political situation even though it has become one. You have people and governments right up to the highest office who are supporting an action that breaks a federal law in this country and all you care about is the political optics on DeSantis?

Keep sending them. It's the ONLY way that MAYBE the D's will understand the serious of the situation. They obviously didn't care when the problem was thousands of miles away.

If the current administration really wants to play the game of which federal laws get enforced and don't, they will soon regret it.
I'm talking about defunding any state that violates immigration law. States with sanctuary cities lose federal funding starting January 21, 2025.
