Now then, I know that Mormons believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God as well as the Savior of all those who call on Him. I also know that the Book of Mormon is an added book of scripture, which God says we're not supposed to do. Having said all of that, I do believe they're Christians. (I used to believe they were merely just Christ-like as in acting like Christ, not actually Christian due to the fact they believe the Book of Mormon is also God's Word, which is what I was taught growing up as a Southern Baptist. I just want to add that for clarification.) Also, they're known for promoting clean (healthy) living, which is definitely a positive in my eyes. And we should be eating healthy, natural foods as much as possible every day. A lot of us, including myself, eat a lot of processed junk with too much sodium, sugar, and additives that look like they were made in a laboratory instead of in God's good soil.

I Had Mormon neighbors for a couple of years. Nicest folks ever. Surprisingly...They never proselytized to us or anyone in the neighborhood and unless you knew they were Mormon you would just think they were ardent Christians. We did not socialize outside of speaking in the yard but I had no problem with them.

All I know is that I can't remember the last time I saw a Mormon in the Police Blotter. Despite their wacky belief system and their tendency to want you to convert to that mess...they are generally nice people. Its my understanding that the person that shouted the racial slurs was not a student at BYU and unless I missed it in that article It didn't state they were Mormon. While Provo has a huge Mormon population there are about 15% that are not. Could just be a one-off racist ahole.

Oops, there it is. Facts matter, unless you're a leftist loon; a product of academic indoctrination.

Hope y’all beat their self-righteous butts this week.

Need I remind people like you that #Killwhitepeople actually trended on Twitter a few years back.

Also, #verifiedhate was formed to show 10s of thousands of verified people (i.e. singers, athletes, actors, news reporters etc.) tweeting how much they hated white people and wish they'd die etc. And that's just verified people, not the hundreds of thousands of unverified people doing the same.

Nascar fans, Trump supporters etc. are called 'toothless inbred hillbillies that F their sisters' etc. Where's the outrage when blatant racism is done to white people?

Also need i remind you that black people are 27 times more likely to attack a white person than vice versa.

White people face far more racism from black people and it's not close.

I also believe that the Bible was written by prophets of God and contains the gospel of Jesus Christ. Yes, I believe that Joseph Smith received revelation from God and restored His priesthood authority and restored Christ's church to the earth.

And therein lies your elephant in the room problem.

You can't claim to believe in the Bible AND the claims of Joseph Smith because they totally contradict each other and the Bible is clear God's Word ends with Revelation. Any additions are clearly rebuked in the strongest of terms and given serious warnings against in the Bible. How can Joe Smith restore something Jesus proclaimed would never fall until His return? That is blasphemy. Smith makes Jesus and the NT into liars.

What you are really saying is you will accept and reject what parts of the Bible you like and don't like and will happily add anything to it you fancy.

That is a bunch of hypocritical garbage and you know it.

The Bible is either God's Word or its not, there is no middle ground. And the Bible teaches that from Genesis through Revelation.

I'm not saying some Mormons are not saved, I'm simply pointing out the FACT that Mormonism is based on false doctrine and false teaching because of a false prophet (Joseph Smith). I know he is a false prophet because I know what the Bible says and I know what he claimed.

If you don't agree he was a false prophet then you either don't really read the Bible or flat out reject what it says. Or both.

I enjoy reading your testimony of and faith in Christ on this forum. We obviously don't agree with each other's interpretation of the Bible. But please cut the 'false doctrine' and 'false teaching' garbage. Just because we don't agree on all facets - as is common among the hundreds of varying Christians religions in the world - doesn't mean that I 'don't really read the Bible' or 'flat our reject what it says.'

I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet and that Christ has called living prophets and that Jesus Christ restored his priesthood authority and his church to the earth... because of what the Bible says! I read the Bible, I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, I diligently strive to follow His gospel, to repent, and to serve and love as He does. The same spirit that has witnessed to me that Jesus is the Christ and that he has atoned for my sins is the same spirit from which I have received a testimony of Christ's truths found in the Bible...and yes, in the Book of Mormon and from living prophets.

I consider myself Christian according to the definition of one who believes in and follows Jesus Christ....I make and strive to keep covenants with God. I take upon myself His name and I strive to always remember Him and to keep His commandments.

Let's not discredit another Christian's testimony and faith in Jesus Christ and their Christian identity because they have different experiences and interpretations.

RE: Ugly racist incident at BYU
I have been through this. I used to live and work in downtown Atlanta. I enjoyed my time there and people as rule got along. Blacks, whites, Indians, Slavs. You name it… everyone mixed in the old 4th ward where I lived.

However, one day I was downtown to see my doctor shortly after Travon Martin’s life was taken and while in the waiting room Obama came on tv and gave his speech the one in which he said @If I had a son he would look a lot like Trayvon”. The speech itself wasn’t too inflammatory but people in the waiting room grew upset. My wife and I were the only white folks in the waiting room and this one elderly black man started running his mouth about white people needing to get their asses beat. I felt threatened and scared. No one made a mood toward us but no want told that little man to sit down and stfu. That shocked me because I knew most of the people in the lobby disagreed with the crazy old fool.. but they said nothing. I have never forgotten the event and the fear I felt.

I feel horrible for the young athlete that was victimized by some crazy idiot and a bunch of people to weak or biased to tell him to sit down and stfu.

Most Germans in 1935 didn't hate Jews, but they were afraid of those who did and lumped those that didn't in with enemies of the state. I liked much of what MLK did and a lot of what he didn't do. He followed Mohandas Gandhi and that was man with a solid philosophy and a healthy regard for not cooperating.

Both of them can be summed up with a remark attributed to Edmund Burke,
"For tyranny to exist all that is required is for good men to do nothing!"

BYU is not Christian. I mean, they "claim" to be, but they are not.

But, that discussion is best for a different thread.

I don't think it was a plant. It was a racist moron who checked his principles at the door, if he ever had them, and allowed the emotions of a sporting event rule his conduct.

I'm sure the game officials and fans around could have and should have done more, but I'm glad that BYU's athletic department summarily banned him.

Also, I welcome a discussion and encourage research on how the school sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is or is not Christian. But, go to the source:

https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/come...e?lang=eng

I will discuss this more in detail in you want to take it to the religious forum. Respectfully of course.

Revelation 22:18-19 is a start. And, the entire Mormon faith is based on the Book Of Mormon.

There are dozens of false teachings, but really it all begins and ends with the assertion that God has added on to his Revelation thru Joseph Smith. I mean, if you can read the Bible and then read the Book of Mormon, and think that those two go together, I don't know what to tell you.

So, what is worse having false doctrine or just blatantly disobeying what is written? Just saying!

3. Where are the decent BYU fans? If I heard that exchange I would have been all over this guy.

I don’t care if you’re red or blue, right or left, things like this should never be acceptable anywhere.

You are correct. It’s garbage and I dealt with it from whites, blacks and Hispanics all through my competitive sports playing days.

The absolute worst was in a football game against a school we had no love loss for. We usually always lost to them. They had an all state Black QB. Take note there is a reason why I said he was black. We were a predominately white school with about 10% blacks. A black kid on our team Randy was built like bull and he was a little slow to catch on. But he was one the best people I’ve ever met in my life. There is nothing Randy wouldn’t do to help you. Give you the shirt off his back so to speak .He played DE on Defense for us. I’m not sure why but the QB focused in on Randy and after nearly every play had something racist and derogatory to say to him. We tried to talk him up before each play but it got so bad he was crying. At that point, we told Randy the next time he rolls to your side don’t worry about the play or the football just tee off on him and hit him as hard as you can. Looking back maybe it wasn’t the best advice. We wiped out the back tackle and TE giving him a free shot at the QB. Randy hit him harder than anything I ever witnessed even in college. It sounded like a shotgun that reverberated around the stadium. He hit him so hard he dislocated his shoulder, broke his leg and knocked him unconscious. An ambulance came onto the field and carted him to the hospital.

After halftime we got coach to pull Randy from the game because they were trying their best to hurt him every play. That game turned real ugly after that hit with sucker punches, kicks and other low blows.

The only positive was we won 38-0.

From the Duke players own mouth—

"I heard a very strong, negative racial slur," Richardson said. "... So I served the ball, got through the play. And then the next time I went back to serve, I heard it extremely clear again, but that was the end of the game."

Here’s the espn article the quote comes from.

https://www.espn.com/college-sports/stor...ougars-fan

This has kind of grown in the media from a non student fan who yelled something a couple of times, into thousands of complicate fans who sat by idly while multiple people constantly screamed the same thing over and over, all night, and no one did a thing. That is not what happened at all, if we believe the person it happened to.

If someone is in front of me, or several people down the row from me in a noisy environment, I would most likely not hear anything.

As unfortunate as it might be, it’s being blown into an entire BYU institutional level failure when it simply isn’t.

The more I have read on this incidence the more questionable it looks. Its starting to sound a lot like the long string of overblown hoaxes we have seen recently.

To believe this, you have to believed eveyone there heard this heckling with the N word being yelled for 2 full hours and none of the players, coaches or fans ever reacted to it. Even several black basketball players were right next to where the alleged slurs were being yelled and they never said a thing or reacted at all. What?

The young woman's godmother is a far left politician who has a long history of extremely racist rants against white people on twitter. She has suddenly made her twitter private. AND just a few days before this happened a radical "antiracsim" BLM inspired group spoke to the team at length.

Now people everywhere are calling out BYU and screaming for the coaching staff to be fired.

This whole thing just reeks of another grossly overblown nothing that we can't even prove ever happened. And all the usual suspects are piling on hard and out for blood. And no one is bothering to really investigate or fact check any of this. Another rush to a possible major injustice.

BYU has watched the film and the fan Duke identified, who BYU banned, did not yell anything at her. One of the times she was serving he wasn’t even there and another he was playing on his phone and not paying any attention according to this article from the Salt Lake Tribune. Somebody is lying. One must ask, who has anything to gain from this story?

Read a report where witnesses say the alleged heckler was just a mentally challenged person who never said anything racially charged, he just wandered onto the court and interfered with players.
