Luck is a big part of the game, but at some point, if you have bad luck all the time, you have to think about calling it a day. This was the case with Penny. With Silverfield, let's see how it goes. Think about us in 2019 if Brady gets hurt and doesn't play a snap. Do we go to the Cotton Bowl with Adair?
We had a lot of injuries in key spots, and Silverfield had horrible luck with Gainwell, Coxie, and the injuries on the offensive line. In 2020, you have to figure that if we didn't have a month off and almost no practices we would have beaten SMU, and anyone who thinks we wouldn't have been a lot better with Gainwell and Coxie is crazy. We went 9-3 but if we didn't have horrible luck we probably would have been 11-1.

How many games into the season before it is in good taste to start the "Who is the next football coach?" thread?

After the GoFundMe is set up and fully funded to pay the next coach since all of the donor money will be tied up in a new stadium and other major projects on campus.

Can't the new coach just get a NIL?

So we give it another year. Everything is a couple of years late around here.

This post is haunting me like the ghost of Rip Scherer's record.

Too many aren't too big on truth or facts around this place.
The coaching job in 2020 might be better than 2005, and that was some of the best adapting on the go I have seen since I have been following this team. Thankfully in 2005 DeAngelo stayed mostly healthy and 2020 we had Brady White.
I've had the discussion far too many times with people that just refuse to see truth to mention everything that went wrong last season, so why bother.
However, with all that said, if he has a disastrously bad season this year, I would think his seat would go from cool as the other side of the pillow (which it is with administration and actual rational fans) to pretty hot.

The COVID seasons are impossible to fairly judge. This year is on the clock.

CRS has had very unique situations in his first head coaching job. I am not ready to make any concrete judgements so far because of that. I do suspect he is an average HC on the field and pretty good HC off the field.

He's had a couple of tough seasons. But that's life. Sooner or later, you gotta quit making excuses and deliver. This year is time.
My biggest concerns are not necessarily related to wins and losses, but what I've seen him doing with the offense - too conservative and playing not to lose.
Offensive line was hurt last year? Then that is the time to show us your creativity. We didn't see it.
I'm still on the fence - I can see potential and I can see trouble. This year will likely be where I make up my mind.

With a true freshman quarterback?
Even more so. If you've got a frosh qb and backup line, you can't play straight up smash mouth. Gotta be creative. It's the same thing I screamed at Chuck Stobart when he kept playing possession/field position fb against teams with better talent. In those situations, you can't afford to be predictable.
