watch the NCAA get promptly get sued for this
If so, watch the NCAA win this time around… It is good that these amateur athletes have rights to their NILs. It does not mean boosters have a free for all to influence the recruiting process.
I agree with you. There are always reasonable rules, reasonable limits which the court will try to ascertain.
In American jurisprudence it is one thing to assert a right, gain a right, but it is another to claim it is unfettered unless codified into law (and that hasn't happened yet).

SMU has been waiting for this for 30 years.
Yeah now they can do above the table without incurring another death penalty

How do we start a NIL collective?
I would join but only donate money to football and mens basketball (sorry all other sports).

Isn't this where Vidal Scott Jr ended up?
Yes.
The NIL money probably changed his mind.

So much for DP's notion that P5 and G5 are separate and unequal universes and what happens with P5 really doesn't effect G5 schools.
Usually, yes; always, no. We do recruit P5-caliber FB players, e.g., Scott Jr, Viotto, Blair, etc. so we need to be aware that NIL may come up and bite us.
And we would expect/have expected these players to be impact players for us. Losing Scott Jr. and Viotto really hurts.

And for our buddy, DP, those Texas Tech FB players, amateur athletes, will 'earn' more than minor league baseball players who are professional athlete.
My mind hurts...

This is interesting, and raises some questions. They say the players will sign a contract in order to receive the $25k...I'd love to see the terms of those contracts. For example, could they put some language in there that if an athlete enters the transfer portal within one calendar year of signing, they forfeit any balance of the $25k left, and perhaps would need to pay back anything they've received under the contract? It would be an interesting way to slow the transfer portal bleeding.

NIL money notwithstanding - how many recruiting battles has EMU won with P5 schools? This doesnt change much - big picture.

Big picture: Keep Scott Jr. and then for 2023 add Viotto and Blair with what we have and maybe a MACC game appearance?
There is that 'gray area' between P5 'plan B' and G5 "Plan A" recruits which make a big difference. That is where Fleck made his living at Western. He didn't beat AL, Clemson, OSU, etc. for high 4s or 5 star recruits, but beat the MAC hands down and that was it.

I think its EXTREMELY unlikely that all three of those players dont jump ship for P5 schools - even without NIL
