Also, there is a giant dumpster in the parking lot which looks like it contains pieces of the new turf that had to be trimmed and they didn't have a use for it. I asked of the people laying down the field as well as 2 other Marshall employees if I could take some from them and they said go for it. I managed to get a rather lengthy piece with a yard marker on it!

SWEET! New throw rug for the den?

I have no idea what I'm going to do with them LOL. While we were down there I wanted to stop by to see if the gates were open to see if we could get photos. That's when we saw the dumpster so I thought it couldn't hurt to ask. They had some really large black pieces which is what I really wanted but they were too big to pull out of the dumpster and probably wouldn't even fit in my car.

I bought and moved into a new townhouse this past Feb. and I thought about using the old piece as a doormat for the entrance but I worry that would seem disrespectful. If anyone has ideas I would love to hear them.

RE: Choose the turf
I got a 3’x6’ section of the old turf and put it in front of my bar. The bar has a bourbon and Herd football theme much like my 5+ years of undergrad.

I also grabbed a long narrow strip from the dumpster. It got cut into sections to make it about 3’ wide section to fit behind the bar. It won’t stay there but for now it’s cool enough to leave there for a little while

I couldn't believe how much was in there, but of course there would be because giant football field. I wanted a piece of the black end zone so bad but no way we could pull a piece out and had no way of cutting it. Would love to see photos!

RE: Choose the turf
I've been trying to think of stuff to do with the sections of field turf I managed to get yesterday and would love to hear what you all think.

Do you feel it would be disrespectful to use the old piece of turf as a front door, doormat since people will be wiping their feet on it?

I know it's a silly thought and question but that stadium means so much to me. I was in the Marching Thunder and the very first game I performed at was in '91 which was the first game in the new stadium.

If I got a piece I would use it for a rug. That's about all it can be used for.

Here are the pieces I was able to get. I feel honored to now have a piece of Marshall Football's history (which is also a goodbye to CUSA) and a piece of it's future and our new home in the Sun Belt Conference.

Holy crap. That looks so good!

I really hope they redo our camera angles at the stadium to make them higher. That look is killer.
