This is from when we replaced the turf nearly a decade ago. This is when we had hopeful eyes on the AAC, which had just formed. We didn't sew in a CUSA logo, so it must be painted occasionally. It has faded to nearly nothing now. ETA- It also has the script Southern Miss logo at midfield because Iowa had successfully blocked our former Eagle head logo, and we hadn't gotten a replacement designed when the turf went in.

Thanks for posting that..

I don't like the Gold/Yellow Endzone.

I don't want it green either.. I think Black would look good like Marshall's design but with the sun down there, I'm not sure if it could last for awhile.

Can't wait to have the new Eagle logo on the 50...

That Southern Miss logo is my favorite.
The new Eagle head not so much.

The grey looks the best and color the SBC emblem.

I know I am not a Herd Fan but I like the third one with the green Endzones, just saying.

Ok maybe I'll have to give up my alumni card, but anyone else prefer a darker green than Kelly?

Absolutely not. Better not ever happen again. [/b]

Black endzones with Gold wording and white outline would be sharp.

RE: Choose the turf
The only thing I have to add here is I think alternating darker and lighter greens between the 5 yard lines generally looks pretty sharp. I didn't at first when schools started doing it but it has grown on me and I now prefer it to a solid shade of green. All I ask is stop it with the odd colored fields. CCU is the most tolerable because it's close to green, but it, Boise, and especially those monstrosities at EMU, EWU, and UCA need to go asap. God help us if JMU gets any ideas and does a purple (or worse an alternating purple and gold) field.

I like Coastal's but yeah I agree that it's best because of being so close to green. A couple others look neat in pics but actually watching a game on it makes your eyes bleed, especially EWU. EMU and UCA are just ugly. I think a purple could look good, but I don't think a good looking one is realistic for JMU even if they wanted to. JMU's official purple would be too bright and get in to the "make your eyes bleed" category, it would only maybe look good with a darker purple imo... Which obviously no one is going to go with colored turf and not use an official color.

Coastal's turf isn't too bad, as you said, because it's not too far from the traditional green. It does take a little "getting used to" initially. At first, I keep feeling like the color on my TV is off. I totally agree about Eastern Washington being the absolute worse turf. That red turf is absolutely nauseating to watch.

Technically, it is meant to replicate the effect of a landscaping lawnmower on grass. Laying the blades of grass down face up (dark) and face down (light).

Right there with you. There are a couple JMU fans that have expressed an interest in having a purple field, but they’re a very, very small minority. Plus, JMU’s administration is likely to never support it. On the positive side the current JMU field is only a year or so old, and looks great. Now if we can only get the NCAA to outlaw the colored fields at EWU et. al 04-cheers

I can promise you’ll pay less and less attention to EWU’s field going forward.

Ha yeah that thing is hideous. Someone photoshopped a purple JMU field at some point, personally I do like it pretty well in the pic but like I said I think in reality it'd be like Boise or EWU where it might look neat in pics but is painful to actually watch a game on.

I'm no football player by any stretch but I have to wonder psychologically how running on a field that's colored other than green effects their performance. Does it screw up their perception? Do they think they're running on carpet? Boise State I can tolerate since they were the originators, but the EWU field looks like the entry mat to my old high school.
