RE: 2022 Basketball Transfer Portal Thread
ECU just filled out the 2022 recruiting class with the pickup of Valentino "Eddy" Pinedo.

Forward - 6'7" - Sunrise Christian Academy

Pinedo averaged 11.7 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.3 steals in the 2021 U18 Spanish Championship with the Baloncesto Torrelodones club in Madrid before joining Sunrise.

I was against firing Dooley. I do think he would've brought back Newton, Suggs, Newton
s brother from Evansville and added a couple of more players.

Having said that, this is intriguing roster. I guess we're about to find out if Schwartz can evaluate talent. He seemed to get essentially everyone he targeted. Appears he thinks the HS ranks are getting ignored and the portal is over recruited. He thinks the best chance to get top notch players to ECU is to get the overlooked HS kids.

Should be interesting.

being honest, with this roster you were better keeping dooley for 1 more year.. there is nothing you got this year that you couldnt have gotten next year including schwartz. ecu had a chance to put out a historic team for them

it easy to say you got everyone you targeted when you targeted players no one anyone was after... i know ecu fans are still in the honeymoon phase of schwartz and hate dooley.. but in the act of recruiting , dooley was a drastically better recruiter (beating out other teams for a player)...there was atleast 1 noteable ecu addition almost every year, even if some didnt work out ..
what is yet to be seen is if schwartz is a better evaluator... he isnt winning recruiting battles but doesnt need to because he can evaluate hidden gems

as of "preseason" ecu looks like the worst aac roster, and its not close...and thats saying a lot as there will be multiple terrible aac teams.. but unknown could surprise to be good

im really interested in his schedule, cant wait to see the schedule he puts out, talked about embracing big games.. dooley schedules were horrendous

I essentially said that. However, I do think it's quite possible there are overlooked steals in the HS ranks. You just don't want to turn into the farm team.

Tulsa - Idowu has graduated and will not be back. KES needs to do a lot of work to get decent minutes, I would not expect him to start at this point. Other than Pritchard and Griffin the rest of the starting lineup will be fluid until the first game.

thank for the update on idowu.... as far as KES starting, i watched a video of them practicing, and konkol was calling him jordan after he came back (becuase he missed las semester) and the 2 gettingg close..

its not that i think KES is good, its just that i dont see anyone else beating him out right now..
2 unknown freshmen that i doubt jump him, and betson decent stats from from an insanely low d1 level, on a terrible team in that level.. i dont see anyone really beating him out now

also isnt dalger pretty much a guaranteed lock to start at the 4, there are no other 4s on roster
The Jordan comment was a nice way of Konkol saying he was overweight and out of shape. It’s tough to say where our inside guys stand. The freshman Chukwu could get some minutes and we’ve signed a Juco transfer named Selebangue.

2022 Basketball Transfer Portal Thread
Reading the SMU list of tall dudes reminds me of a note I saw that half of Rice’s roster should be 6’6” or taller. Probably the tallest overall we’ve ever had. A lot of freshman potential there plus 3 starters returning. Hopefully at least we can beat the Pie Rats.

will be interesting to see any last minute big time portal entries, or big time roster shake ups

bolded any starter changes since the last time

at this point most of everyone knows what their main rotation and roster will look like,
most of the aac at this point is looking for "one" game changing player.. memphis is the only team where their entire rotation and projection could be flipped on it head and its completely unknown

It would be interesting for fans of each team to provide some feedback about how they see the situation, or to add any new information.

With regard to Temple, it seems likely that Coach McKie will experiment with some different starting lineups early in the season. It's entirely possible that he'll start Miller, Battle, Dunn, Jourdain, and Reynolds. However, (6'7") Jahlil White was such a key player for Temple last year that he might be a starter, as he was in 16 of the team's last 18 games last season. White will probably be expected to play ~30 mpg, as he did last season.

Jourdain had so much difficulty with foul trouble in the last third of last season that McKie might opt to start White instead of Jourdain at the 4. Another possibility is that he might start White and Jourdain, rather than Jourdain & Reynolds at the 4 and 5.

One of the interesting things to watch will be how Battle and Dunn will play when they're both on the floor together, assuming that Battle returns. Of the two, Dunn is more well-suited than Battle is to function as a combo guard with a playmaking role.

Another interesting thing to watch will be how the wing minutes are allocated. If Dunn were to play all but 5-7 mpg of his ~30 mpg at the wing position, White and (6'7") Hicks - - who played a combined ~55 mpg last season) would probably end up playing a lot of their minutes at the 4 (PF) position.

Another possibility is that Dunn might split his minutes between playing the 1, 2, and 3 positions, functioning as the team's backup PG and SG, and only playing 10-15 mpg at the wing position.

A completely unexpected possibility would be that Battle might be able to boost his chances of being a future first-round NBA pick if he were to switch places and start as the team's floor general. One of Battle's main limitations is that he's somewhat of a one-trick pony, who hasn't excelled as either a playmaker or defender. Playing the 1 position would give him an opportunity to boost his assist numbers, and this might be the only way he would stand a chance of being a first-round pick. Sounds like fantasy island, but...?

.
Tulsa - Idowu has graduated and will not be back. KES needs to do a lot of work to get decent minutes, I would not expect him to start at this point. Other than Pritchard and Griffin the rest of the starting lineup will be fluid until the first game.
Is Nevadanatural's profile image absolutely massive for anyone else?

I have no idea where that came from. It pops in and out and I have no idea how to get rid of it. I think I was hacked by the Ukrainians.

It’s possible, although not likely, that when next season opens SMU starts five guys not from Jankistan. I do think Nutall and/or Phelps might start but with two scholarships remaining….. you never know.
We ain’t done yet.

temple has now lost on a transfer recruit max edwards to george Washington

and expected to lose their high school target to umass

but will get in heated tirades against me for saying aaron mckie is a bad recruiter

either way i think both are good things, maybe losing out on them could open the door to maybe landing someone big

Anthony Harris Jr, a Guard from UNC, visited UCF recently. I’d say we have a very good shot, if we aren’t the favorite at this point.

You can still enter the portal. But after the deadline, you have to then ask for a waiver to play immediately.

6’10” forward Mo Nije from Eastern Michigan chooses between SMU and BYU….. announcement coming today.

Three years of eligibility left.

If added this would give SMU it’s sixth potential contributor between 6’8” and 7’0”. Mustangs go from midgets to YUGE!

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basket...n-holloway

amazing pick up..

tulane with 1ship left, still haven't picked up a notable big but picked up 2 notable 6'6 wing, so can ride small ball as far as it can take them
