We won’t miss a beat with Schlee at quarterback.
I’m sure Schlee will be ok, but early Crum wasn’t the same as he was by the time he left, so there’s bound to be some drop off.

Crum's fake was unreal. That was a huge weapon he had. Also a big reason we got that last TD in Frisco.

RE: 2022 Football Season
My guess is Schlee will be more of a traditional running QB. Crum was a shifty runner that kept people off balance. My guess is Schlee will be more of a straight line runner. Not sure if he'll be more or less effective, just different style. I'm also guessing Schlee will have a hard time matching Crum's efficiency and low turnover rate but he'll still put a lot of points on the board.

My big question is will the defense put up enough resistance that we don't need to score every possession?

100%. The shootouts were fun to watch, but we made every RB we faced look like Barry Sanders.

Fun to watch compared to what the most of the 40 years before Lewis were. They got pretty frustrating at times. Despite having a high octane offense you felt like a 2 score deficit was insurmountable because we couldn't count on any stops.

Schlee will be all conference. I followed him in high school. He could have been a starter for us as a freshman except we had Crum.

I almost wondered if the defense lacked endurance. Our offense got rid of the ball fast. Not much recovery time between possessions.

This is why I believe in the old “tick tick” (get creative with the rest) type offense. If every drive ends with a score or punt, life is good.

Sorry tried to link couldn't.
Kent State football Rated # 1 by several national writers!
Now the bad news.
Reason for #1 rating.
Toughest September schedule in college football.
October toughest schedule
Mississippi State a SEC team!
Not too optimistic how healthy KSU will be when MAC play statrts

The Sideline Sports Network Football Preview predicts we'll be 6-6 and going to the Myrtle Beach Bowl against Southern Miss. They have us on page 165-166 (173-174 of the pdf). After Boise last winter I'd be pretty stoked about a bowl in Myrtle Beach.

RE: 2022 Football Season
2022 Roster has been updated with updated weights:

https://kentstatesports.com/sports/football/roster

I compared them to Washington Roster and there are actually areas where have strictly size advantage, QB, more LBs that weigh 220+. Simliar in number of 6' DBs/CBs/Safeties. Running back size are about equal. Kent has a big bruiser (250+back )while Washington doesn't, but Washington has more 200-210 backs

Washington has more 300lb+ OL (12) (Kent has 6 still). The only clear size advantage I see on paper is DL. Washington has 8 DL at 290+ and Kent has one

In closing, the size differential is much closer to it has ever been for a G5 vs P5 with Kent State actually having a size advantage in some areas

True that the better P5 teams sport players that are typically bigger than mid-majors, but another factor is that they typically have a lot more team speed.

They also have way more depth at the P5 level. They can rotate fresh legs 2 and 3 deep off the bench without a significant dropoff in size, speed or skill.

That's very true.

Maybe just me, but I'm not sensing Washington will be faster.

If the Golden Flashes can go into Walla Walla and compete AND come out of it healthy, I think you'd have to be optimistic about the MAC season. As for Kyle Field and Athens....may the force be with them!

Is there a hotel that the KSU faithful are staying at for the Georgia game?
