I love listening to the GCU play by play guys after a loss. It looks like they want to cry.
NMSU 17-5 vs GCU all-time so again how is this a rivalry?

GCU is not the second best team in the WAC. Not even in the top 4 (NMSU, Seattle, SHSU, SFA, maybe even ACU). I HATE the GCU announcers. I hate the havocs. I hate the stupid signs (we are so loud!). I hate the stupid comments on the ticker (NMSU is not ready). 17-5…

Whether it’s lopsided or not, the fans of both schools seem to care. Those game have the best atmosphere for a neutral fan to see in the WAC. If you wanted to showcase the current WAC, you would pick that game. Nothing else comes close to it.

The UVU Dixie State game turned out to be a good game. Maybe a rivalry in the making. Dixie State came back late in regulation (70-70) to win in overtime (80-75).

I thought UVU had it with under 2 minutes to go in regulation.
Different teams’ seasons follow different trajectories. Some start of strong and then fade, some only begin to gel at the very end of the year. Dixie was up a little, down a little most of the year.
But Judkins has to be extremely pleased with how well Dixie has been competing the last few weeks. After 2 bad road losses in Texas, they have shown an ability to compete with top half of the conference teams as of late.
Seattle looked pretty shaky at times today. Dixie may be just the team to knock those RedHawks of their perch when they come to St George. Dixie has been tough at home.

I’m a broken record. We need the top teams in the WAC to keep winning to help with WAC seeding. Bad for NMSU to lose to UVU and bad for UVU to lose to Dixie.

This is the part that frustrated me last week. NMSU was getting votes nationally. Then they laid an egg against UVU. Imagine where this Aggie team would be in the rankings now with a win over UVU last week and tonight's performance against GCU?

That’s been the story of the Jans era. Close, but no cigar. Not blaming Jans or anyone. Just stating facts.

RE: WAC MBB Week #15
I know for the most part the target is on NMSU's back with WAC teams going all out against us. Our Aggies can't afford to take a night off against anyone. It's NMSU's mental toughest on a nightly basis that has separated this team from the rest of the pack. NMSU keeps taking the opposition's best shots. I haven't really liked the way NMSU was winning games recently, but I have to give credit to this team, for the most part they find ways to win... and the Aggie's record speaks for itself. The WAC is a tougher/deeper conference, we will see if NMSU can learn from tonight's performance and develop an "A" game ready to travel to Vegas.

Unfortunately, the only way of overcoming this problem is to play more P6 teams in the noncon. And these days, we only play P6 opponents if they pay us. We need to follow Gonzaga's lead and be willing to play any P6, anywhere.
Now, whether or not we have the money for this is a different issue...

This is inaccurate. We don’t only play P6 if they pay us. Jans has tied to get games against P6 teams and they don’t want to play us. Very little benefit if they win and huge detriment if the lose to us.

This was the impression I got from Mario, and Wazzu was definitely a buy game. It would be silly if Wazzu was willing to pay us for a game, but no other P6 schools would be willing to play us for free.
The problem is probably that we insist on either a home-and-home or a buy game. I'm saying that if we want to take NMSU to the next level, we need to be willing to play P6 schools on their court with no compensation.

Dixie had one of its largest, if not the largest home crowd, of the season for UVU. More than showed up for games versus NMSU and GCU combined. Their top home crowds are most likely in the top half of all schools in the conference. Good showing for them.

Was hoping Wazzu could pull out the win at USC tonight. Could have helped their NET a little and NMSU’s a little as well, but they lost it in the final few minutes 62-60. They are around 48, and Davidson is around 50. No boost for the Aggies tonight.

New Mexico State's Teddy Allen has been selected WAC Player of the Week. And, Stephen F. Austin's Derrick Tezeno has been selected WAC Freshman of the Week.
