UC is a putrid team offensively, specifically shooting, and they haven't played a game in two weeks. Why is this surprising that they're not scoring? Coaching can't fix busted jumpers.
Silly me. I thought that was part of "coaching."
No, that's recruiting...from the looks of what I've seen from Shillington and Reed, he's attempting to change that. If you're attempting to fix every hitch, clutch, and misfire in a kid's jumper, you're missing opportunities to attempt to install defense, offense, and work on all other factors of the game that one can actually coach into players.
Coaching them to stop shooting so many 3s when they're clearly terrible at it though is part of coaching.
Absolutely...that's the insanely frustrating part so far this year.
Hard to do when you don’t have a single big who can make a post move and convert…or make a free throw. Really bad combination. Guards that can’t shoot and bigs that can’t finish.

Miller's comments -
"We weren't ready to play from the start".
Well that's disappointing.

It’s pathetic how bad this program has become. Brannen and now Wes are taking this program to new lows over last two seasons.
Winning at Cincinnati shouldn’t be hard.

I did too and I had tickets LOL. I made it to the Shoe for the start of them second half. Thought I might catch a comeback. Can't even remember the last time I forgot about a UC hoops game.

Tulane was slowing it down and playing scared and trying to hold on. Don't think much credit goes to our defensive adjustments. They played with some heart though.

I mean...Tulane shot 19% in the 2nd half. I'm pretty sure they still tried to make the baskets they attempted unless Ron Hunter was playing 5-D Chess with his time wasting strategy.

We did well to cut the deficit down to 11 with 13:48 to go in the game.
"Great effort" or not, the fact that we never got closer than 7 for the rest of the game reflects very poorly on us.
Not a single player stepped up down the stretch.

When he is in his little three dribble step back rhythm move he can look OK, but he has a little flinch in his shot most of the time. It's not pretty. Since he's been here, he's averaged fewer than 1 made three a game despite taking over 4 of them per. And we moved him off the ball LOL. He does a lot of good things but he is just a terrible shooter and he has been since he walked in the door.

Losing at home to 4-6 Tulane.
Wow I thought I heard Wes would fix the alleged Brannen debacle.
I think Quadry Moore has eligibility left, and he was the Tulane terror.
I signed up for ESPN+. After that I think it is time to cancel!

Yep. 14 games in, and it's clear Wes Miller is a bad coach. We should probably just go ahead and shut down the program.

I’m ready for this roster to graduate. All 12 or 13 of them are getting increasingly hard to set aside time to watch.

RE: TULANE GAME THREAD
I don't think that this team is going to go anywhere until they lose this fascination with the 3 point shot and start working for a shot they can make.
I mean, Ray Charles could see that they're wasting waaaay too may possessions chucking up 3's that are bricks.
