Rolovich is available (not sure what Hawaii's vaccination requirements are though). I still think it is crazy that Graham took four different head coaching jobs (Rice, Tulsa, Pittsburgh and Arizona State) in a seven year stretch (2006-2012). If Graham did leave after only two seasons at Hawaii, it wouldn't be surprising.

RE: Player revolt at Hawaii
I’ve been following this locally for the past week but didn’t know if it would go national. Now it has. It’s not quite a full-on player revolt but Coach Graham has definitely divided the team with a combination of poor assistant coach hires (several of whom the players have accused of incompetence), alleged player mistreatment (verbal abuse that exceeds typical coaching norms), and alleged favoritism (Mainland players being systematically pushed up on the depth chart and given more playing time at the expense of local/Polynesian players).

This was all pretty much under wraps until UH’s homegrown record-setting starting QB, Chevan Cordeiro, shocked local fans a few days ago by entering the transfer portal. Cordeiro and his parents met multiple times with both Graham and UH’s AD Dave Matlin before the announcement. Cordeiro’s father wouldn’t reveal details of the conversations but was very explicit in saying Chevan’s decision had nothing to do with wanting to improve his football career prospects or play for a bigger-name program. The clear implication was that he had issues with the coach that were insurmountable.

After that the dam broke and all the allegations against Graham began to pour out from both past and current UH players.

I don’t know where it will end but I’d bet money that Matlin and UH’s legal counsel are currently scrambling to determine whether there are sufficient grounds to fire Graham for cause. They need to move quickly because Hawaii Bowl practices have begun and there are rumors that many players are boycotting them. The university certainly can’t afford the negative national publicity that would come with being unable to field a team for the bowl game.

There’s a vaccination mandate for all UH employees and students which extends to all football coaches and players. Rolo wouldn’t be a candidate to replace Graham.

Obviously bigger issues at stake, but I do find it humorous that the NCAA approved a new bowl last minute iin part n order to let Hawaii play in Hawaii and now this.

Hawaii has some of the strictest vaccination requirements in the country. No way they bring in someone like him.

Yeah. If he didn't get it for Washington St in the P5, he's not going to get it for a G5 job.

Hawaii going to pay for his buyout? I mean, you either catch him red handed or pay the man.

Unless some well-heeled boosters magically appear, a buyout won’t happen. The athletic department lacks the cash after emptying its pockets to get the temporary on-campus stadium built. That’s why I said Matlin and the lawyers are likely looking at whether there’s sufficient evidence of player abuse to support a firing for cause. If there isn’t, I expect Graham to keep his job for at least another season regardless of how many players are unhappy.

As for the Hawaii Bowl, it’s beginning to look like rumors of players skipping practices were overblown and right now it appears the game is on. If so it will be interesting to see whether Memphis wins in a cakewalk or the UH players muster up enough pride to make it a contest.

When I hear players talking about "verbal abuse," those are players I would WANT to hit the portal. They're soft mentally.

There are second hand allegations that some players have been subjected to racial slurs. To be clear, this is only hearsay and NOT confirmed by any authoritative source. But the university is obligated to investigate. There are lines even an "old school" coach cannot cross.

I guess the question would be is this the first time this talk about verbal abuse has happened. If not, than maybe it's the coach that's the problem.

Wrong - at least when it comes to Todd Graham. Story hit local media today, and stories of his abuse at ASU were discussed.

Graham talks about faith and family, yet if he treated his kids they way he treated his players, the kids would be removed from his home.

There are lines. But in real life, you do run into people who are rude and who verbally harrass you, in the work place and in the city. So this sounds like just some people who have been worshipped all their life suddenly being criticized (maybe a lot) and not knowing how to handle it.
