RE: MAC Bowl Eligible Teams
If the Bears get a new domed stadium in suburban Chicago in a few years, that would be another nice site for a bowl game. (I could imagine Power 5 conferences wanting to monopolize such a game, in fact.)

I was about to say, that's a great idea - and then you ruined it by mentioning the P5 monopolizing it. I could see that happening, practically in our own backyard. It would be very convenient for a bowl game, for sure. Though everything in the stadium would be vastly overpriced.

Yeah, I think a new roofed Bears stadium would include a huge entertainment complex that would make it a much more appealing game to the Big Ten then Detroit (much more local alumni as well). If I had to guess you'd have them probably against another P5, they've never been eager to play the MAC in a bowl that one of their mid or lower teams can lose.

I could also see the Big Ten wanting to put its championship in this stadium, so maybe a P5-dominated bowl game would not come to pass. Or maybe the Big Ten could play it in Chicago the way the MAC does in Detroit (at least in a de facto sense), which is to host both a championship and a bowl game in the same stadium. In that case, maybe Indianapolis would suddenly be interested in a new bowl game involving the MAC to backfill for the loss of its Big Ten championship game.
