Their facility is top notch, arguably the nicest one in the current Sunbelt.
The tournament is in Pensacola, FL
Like I said, ends up hosting. It'll not be in Pensacola, FL forever. If it does stay on the east coast that should insult the western teams in the SBC. I think they care about basketball too, I know Texas St. does. They should host the Sunbelt basketball tournament after Pensacola imo.
Fine with me. They have a beautiful arena. You say that like it wouldn't still be an upgrade over CUSA's
Right now it looks to be an upgrade. We'll have to see how it plays out though. The power definitely rests in the east for the SBC now. I'll miss playing ODU for sure. Our basketball games were legendary. Hopefully we can still schedule OOC games in men's and women's basketball. Hell, add the baseball too. Your guys were a hoot during the CUSA baseball tournament last year in Ruston.
I'd be down for that! You guys and WKU have shooty hoops we will miss, no doubt. Normally we schedule the likes of JMU OOC every year, but since they'll be in conference now, that's at least one game spot that's to be determined

Michigan St: Gotta save money have Izzo find a bus game.
Also Michigan St: let’s give our football coach a 10 year $95 million extension.

Pensacola is not on the east coast. With that said Pensacola and the Civic Center is a paradise compared to the airplane hangar Judy insists on using in Frisco.

Schools in this latter option would often travel together and save on expenses by sharing the load. They might travel to another pair of travel partners and play two games for the price of one on the trip. For non-revenue sports, this is how teams can make travel work in a far-flung league.
In football, schools are more independently responsible for travel. However, the conference may be divided into divisions to make the travel less widespread. It ultimately depends on the conference setup that will determine whether travel costs are too great.
Being travel partners doesn't mean the 2 teams travel together. It means a team away from them can play both in the same week or few days. Like LaTech plays at Marshall and WKU on the same roadtrip, as WKU and Marshall are travel partners. It does NOT mean WKU and Marshall travel together to LaTech. That crap you wrote? You pulled that right out of your ass, didn't you? It's not some ancient practice. We use travel partners for basketball and Olympic sports all the time.

Well Rabon was able to notice moron, so it's clear they can read. It's the reading comprehension that needs work.

There was an estimate from somewhere that MAC athletic departments save $1.5M each in travel vs other G5 conferences. A penny saved, is a penny earned.

Since attendance at the SBC basketball tourney in Pensacola this past March was restricted due to covid, it will be interesting to see how it goes this coming March. Nice destination to a 10k arena. Pretty close to USA fans and for USM when they start participating.
