RE: WKU still willing to accept MAC invite.
Delaware has MAC level FB attendance, unlike some of the other potential call ups.
They have a crisis in the Colonial as they are considering MEAC move ups.

Agree. I think we can do a bit better.

North Dakota State would be a better add. More travel, but perhaps worth it. Man, that football would be fun.

This would be doing better as well. Great schools, especially Stony Brook.
In contrast, Northern Iowa strikes me as an "insert directional here."

This isn't the worst idea. But are they interested?
Same for a UConn football affiliation. I wouldn't mind, just as I wouldn't mind a UMass affiliation. But UConn may prefer football independence.

Western is the prize of this round of G5 realignment. MAC should take them NOW.

This is the next best option. Take WKU and Missouri St. now! If you wait too long, CUSA will add them. They are likely the #1 CUSA target.

Missouri State fits in nicely. Public University, 26,000 enrollment, bordering state, nice facilities.

UConn was reported to be talking to CUSA about a FB only.
MAC FB only would be a step up.
A basketball agreement with UConn would provide more value than what Temple ever did since they have an elite program.
13 in hoops with WKU (no BB divisions) and UConn as a 14th w/ BB games might be the best that can be done to help roundball.

Missouri State would also be just the 2nd FBS program in a fairly populated state. Would be contiguous and keep with the mindset of not overlapping other G5 conference territory. Travel distance would be a bit far for most of the MAC though.

If they were on the eastern side of the state near St. Louis, I think they'd be a strong candidate, but unfortunately, they are in the far southwest corner of the state, practically in Arkansas or Oklahoma

They seem more in the CUSA footprint.

RE: WKU still willing to accept MAC invite.
I like WKU as an addition.
Nothing else sounds great, although UCONN football only w bball scheduling agreement would be fine.
UMass all sports would be OK but they don't seem clear on their plans.
If going into Illinois it would have to be Illinois St as they are the most stable public school in the state outside Champaign-Urbana.
Missouri St is a bad geographic fit, small town-no market, no FBS football, etc...
Delaware-see above-although the state flagship element adds a little something.
JMU sounds good as an argument but the travel is worse than you think. Stuck on the Eastern edge of Appalachia, away from any major airport and 6-9 hours by bus from most of the league (more to a couple other schools)-yuck.

RE: WKU still willing to accept MAC invite.
Having a WKU invite in hand is a huge bargaining chip for bringing in a 14th because that already means MAC basketball will be improved.
UConn deal where they play the Top 5 from the MAC previous season in mbb/wbb might be the best move the MAC can make. Far better than the Temple bb assist or a UMass bb assist when their basketball isn't that great.
That 20 year GOR is tough but UConn would be looking at exercising it for the ACC down the road they'd be more than willing to pay up to get out of it. Totally different situation than poor boy MT.

RE: WKU still willing to accept MAC invite.
When the MAC takes WKU they REALLY need to "hit it out of the park" with the last (14th) school!!! Every league has a few "bottom dwellers" -- you need to add a TOP school to enhance the conference.
I don't know who for sure but the league office needs to do a DEEP study on that last choice and take a year or so to decide.

And really they can take their time doing it. There is nothing toxic about 13 members for FB. Take 2-3 years to find the next and it's fine.

Stay at 12.
As has been mentioned, if the MAC is seriously interested in adding W. Kentucky they aren’t going anywhere.
